I read some of these posts with great amusement, consternation, and wonderment. I do not think any POTUS has ever caused a greater divide in the UNITED states

Well certainly not in my lifetime anyway.

Strange to me that you would be so amused and in wonder.

A political party invented a story about the President of the United States paying prostitutes to urinate on the bed used by the former President and first lady. They then funneled the story to a politically aligned CIA,  FBI and press. For our children to read in the national media, as they called the President a Russian asset for our troops to read.

Amusing? They should all be hung by the neck until dead.

Unfortunately that maximum sentence does not exist!

Would you be so amused if this happened in your own country?

It is everything he has obfuscated, exaggerated and lied about, which I feel is causing the divide in the UNITED states.

The comments still amuse me sometimes and I shake my head in wonder.

Still the most divisive

I totally agree with you J Town, and I posted a snippet from Mueller's testimony a few posts ago, but the same denials came out, even though it was plainly written and spoken by Mueller himself.

It baffles me beyond anything else I've ever known or seen; that people who can see, read and understand the antics and lies of trump and co, then try to argue that no such thing exists/never happened/was never said, etc.

At first I thought they were doing it as a "windup", when they actually knew full well the real story, but the more I see of the posts, the more I realise that this isn't the case.

You state that "I just don't get the cult of personality" and if that's what it is, then I don't understand it either, not when the real facts are out there for all to see.

Long gone are the days when intelligent discourse between politicians, based on facts, was the order of the day and certainly this president and his supporters have taken what should be a revered position, to the absolute depths.

Have you heard what Howard Stern (!) came out with yesterday regarding what DT thinks of his fans?

This link is to the Washington Times, which is so right-wing it makes Reagan look like Karl Marx, so no whinging about fake news here, folks.

Quite similar to what DT has tweeted about one of his lead sycophants Sean Hannity. I really wonder what DT thinks about Pence?

Put simply, if DT hadn't gone into politics the two of them would have never been in the same room.  He keeps Pence because he is a first class bootlick.  But I also suspect DT is smart enough to spot a hypocrite, and I wouldn't be surprised to hear that DT cooked something up to corrupt Pence (like sending a hooker or hustler to his hotel room) just to take him down a notch.  Personally, from what I've seen in my years, anybody who comes off that pious, regardless of religion, is someone who has something to hide.

Two things that came out during the 2015-16 campaign stick in mind:

Pollsters told DT his strongest support was among the "poorly educated."  Next day he made a speech proclaiming his love for the poorly educated.  He stopped using that term, I guess he had no idea the poorly educated would not appreciate being called that.

Next regards the way his supporters race to defend and clarify the ridiculous things he comes out with.  In one incident Hugh Hewitt (hey, haven't heard his name lately, did they send him to the gulag?) was rationalizing and doing "what he meant was ..." and DT stopped him and said "No, that is not what I meant."  Hugh is pretty spineless.

How about 2 hookers, peeing on him in a bed that Obama once slept in? Oh no, tried that hoax already, didn't work well after the initial 24/7 media frenzy and Trump bash-a-thon.

Too late to edit now, but in that link to the Washington Times I posted I scrolled down and, well, usually these news sites that aggregate different types of stories have things like "sneak peek at the new iPhone" or some such.  On that site it was "Most popular new .45 caliber pistols."

Isn't that newspaper run by the Moonies?

I must have missed something - did a tape actually surface?

Probably there was no need for DT to cook something up to corrupt Pence.  It was Manafort who put the two together.  Manafort handpicked Pence for a reason.  https://www.newsweek.com/mike-pence-was-handpicked-paul-manafort-696412

Strangely enough pence is still there. When he was handpicked to lead the taskforce, doomed to fail, I expected pence to be blamed. But with Trump himself taking charge that didn't happen. He may still be removed from the 2020 ticket, but surprises me he is still there.

Not to change the subject, the other night I was watching "The Unknown Known," an interview with Donald Rumsfeld.  I recall, back when, that I had the impression that Cheney picked Rumsfeld because he knew he would make a mess of things and he would get what he wanted: a prolonged, un-endable war, like VN.  That's where the $$$ is.

So yeah, sometimes a person is hired for a job not because they are the best, but because they're the worst.  Manafort understands the value of morons.

It ain't over till it's over.  But yeah, I too figured it was a "set up the dummy" ploy.

Pence has the ability to talk at length and say nothing, a few weeks ago I heard DT praise him for it.  Also Pence is just as confrontational and insolent to the press as he is, but in a toned-down way.  A few weeks ago he quietly reprimanded a reporter (female, cor) for misunderstanding him: he clarified that testing had been done, but she was wrong to assume "a mistake on YOUR part" the tests would be processed for their results.  Say what?  The vid is out there, saw it on television news.

The contrived drama of Pence leaving a Colts game when players kneeled during the national anthem says it all.

You cannot - I repeat CANNOT - argue using facts with Trump supporters. I read the Mueller report, most of us saw the testimony given by career civil servants who dealt with this very subject, it happened. We are absolutely living in an Orwellian doublespeak existence. I just don't get the cult of personality when there is so much evidence to the contrary.

What happened?  Russia collusion?  Not a single shred of evidence to date after years of media propaganda.

This whole thing was conjured up by a dossier that was purchased by the clinton campaign and has now been completely debunked.  The witch hunt that ensued has proven to be nothing more than a farce.   CNN and MSNBC put up shocking headlines with no evidence and people get in a tizzy.  Then when its all debunked and retracted (on page 12) people continue to push the lie.

The only thing that has happened is that the US Government has continued to get larger and kill more people.  While half cheer on team blue and the other half cheer on team red the overlords collaborate and laugh at how stupid society has gotten and how much they can enrich themselves.

Pelosi says Trump is literally Hitler while pushing through budgets that give him large increases to his military budget

Trump says "america will never be a socialist country" while increasing social programs, signing "stimulus" that increases welfare (to individuals and corporations), and pushing for family leave plans that even Obama would blush at.

This November you can choose Trump or Biden but no matter who wins you will get John McCain.

First - Using the label "liberal" is an automatic setup for "us vs them" rather than discussing an issue to get to the truth.

Second - Using a hypothetical is merely an embellishment of your imagination.

Third - you deny the reality of Flynn's confession. The judge was very clear when accepting his guilty plea that Flynn understood exactly what he was doing.

Well yeah, I bet I could get you to admit to a lot of stuff if I told you I'm going to destroy your family if you don't sign on the dotted line. That's one of the main problems with the prosecution of Flynn in the first place. Why do you think you can just pretend it never happened? And worse, why do you expect others to join you in denying such relevant facts?
