And not only in Thailand. I recall watching the Singapore-based MD getting interviewed on Bloomberg about 6 or 8 months ago and despite having a quoted market value of billions, it hasn't made a cent of profit. Ever.

How does that work? Chinese accounting?

Or perhaps American false accounting of Chinese companies.

Last month i watched The China Hustle, a documentary (2017):

'A Wall Street horror story about Chinese companies and the American stock market, involving opportunistic greed and the biggest heist never heard of.'

Ask Jeff Bezos, he knows everything about that

Just had a delivery from Lazada 5 minutes ago.

Six days to come from China, order from Bangkok 12 days now, nothing.

My current Lazada order from China has been quoted a 1-2 weeks. After a week it's still not left China.

Yes. Similar problem. It was also my first problem with Lazada. However I can not edit phone number as they want to send sms to the number that's not working.

About a month ago I placed an order and when my shipping address and phone number was displayed during the confirmation process I clicked the edit button and changed the phone number there. All orders since have defaulted to the changed number. No SMS or any other BS required. Maybe the process you describe is if you try to edit your number in your profile, not while placing an order?

What I have been trying to say is: My phone number is 082*******. The shipping label had 66082*******. Who changed the number adding the country code and not dropping the "0". The seller or Lazada? So if the delivery guy sees the 66082******** and trys to call me I wont receive the call to go down and pay him (COD) and he cannot deliver.

This happened to me, as well.  I have been waiting over a month for a package that was at the check points wherever...in lazada space they were.  Then I got a refund and note that said they tried to deliver but, were unable to deliver.  Which is nonsense.  I have received many packages here at my condo.  There are always people at the reception area who collect deliveries.  This is nothing new to them.  Lazada lied.  I will have to seriously think about using them again.  Can we use Alibaba?  Or, maybe I will go directly through the purveyor.

Use Shopee instead

Seeing as you mentioned it, I thought I'd have a look. How do you change from Thai to English?

I can see nowhere on the page says "English"

That's the drawback. No English. But you can use the search function in English, and it normally finds the products  and I find the prices are always cheaper than Lazada.

I just search in English and most the time get a quote for what I need. If anything more specific, I get my wife to search. I just use Google Translate to read the reviews. I order a lot of little things on Shopee.

This week I ordered two 4K HDMI 2 144kzh cables. Ordered Monday, here Wednesday using a free shipping voucher I was given. I use the Desktop mode the most for Shopee. Remember but, if you need to return a item, it is not as easy as Lazada.

Lazada you only have to go to 7-11. With Shopee, you are dealing direct with the seller. I will not buy anything big on Shopee. I have bought 3 TV's on Lazada now and one did not work. They came and got it two days later and money was refunded back into my account three days after that.

Cannot complain.

Read my post again, in it i said about the virus situation, but that has nothing to do with the many shady merchants now on there, or the very distinct lack of customer service now.

"...many shady merchants now on there".

Really?  Any examples of the many that you've personally experienced being "shady"?  Have you reported them to Lazada?

If a person wishes to express "his experience" that is his prerogative, it requires no further explanation, as to "naming" (sellers/merchants) that is NOT allowed under forum rules and NOT advisable under Thai Criminal and Civil law of defamation and members are quite correct in NOT choosing to names names etc.

6) You will not post comments that could be reasonably construed as defamation or libel. Any such posts will be removed and the poster may face an immediate ban.

Defamation is the issuance of a statement about another person or business which causes that person to suffer harm. It does not have to be false to be defamatory. Libel is when the defamatory statement is published either in a drawing, painting, cinematography, film, picture or letters made visible by any means, or any other recording instruments, recording picture or letters, or by broadcasting or spreading picture, or by propagation by any other means. Defamation is both a civil and criminal charge in Thailand.

I don't doubt what you think you may have heard but Lazada is part of the Alibaba Group and it's financials are bundled with Alibaba's, not quoted independently.  It's doubtful that Lazada's "Singapore MD" would confirm publicly that "it has never made a cent of profit, ever" as you claim was stated in a Bloomberg interview.   Google doesn't show any reports or interviews of Lazada by Bloomberg, either, do you have a link?

You would have received the call because the '0' makes no difference to whether a call is connected as the phone systems have the capability to work out the correct number.

If your local number is 082*******, then, within Thailand, +6682*******, 6682*******, +66082******* or +66082******* will all connect to 082*******.  I know because, out of curiosity, I've just tried it with my own numbers here.

You can't, yet, that's the downside of Shopee at the moment.  You can search in English but then you have to select an item just from the picture and use Google Translate if you can't work it out.   They do have English-speaking agents, 02 017 8399 (ask for 'E-agent'), I had difficulty getting my registration to work initially but an English-speaker talked me through the process.

You are 100% correct. I stand corrected. So....my problem with the delivery was not because of driver calling wrong number. It means he never called as I received no missed call.

Yes i have reported them, mr smarty pants.

What?  Jesus, I was just asking a question as my experience does not match yours in any way.

I'm going to ask another question, if that's ok, if you don't approve of it don't bother to reply.  How do you manage to find so many sellers that turn out to be shady?

I've not had any problems.

One person sent a pink bag when I ordered black.

One sent a timer when I ordered a power meter.

That's about it for problems in the last six years.

I was given refunds on both.

Just set google chrome to 'auto-translate' ...... you don't even know Shopee was in Thai.

Thanks, that would be a good idea if I used Google Chrome!

Edit: good idea, I just tried Chrome, it didn't auto-translate but a right click on the page gave a "translate to English" option.

Or you can get a Thai girlfriend.

Or a Thai wife if you want full-service.

I ordered something on Lazada recently and got three or four messages saying tht the driver could not deliver/no-body home.

It was only a new door bell I had ordered!   PML
