Some 250 Thais stranded in the UK and Ireland are returning home today (May 18), the Royal Thai Embassy in London said on its Facebook page.

“The first batch of Thai nationals who wished to return home from the United Kingdom and Ireland departed from Heathrow Airport in London at 9.25pm [local time] on Eva Air Flight BR068 and will reach Suvarnabhumi Airport at around 3pm [Bangkok time],” the Facebook post said. “After touching down, all passengers will be transported to the government’s specified quarantine facilities and stay there for 14 days to make sure they are free from Covid-19.”

The embassy added that the flight has employed strict measures to prevent virus infections, including thermal scanning before boarding, disinfecting the plane inside and out before and after the flight and disinfecting passengers’ luggage as well. “Furthermore, passengers were instructed to wear provided face masks at all times and keep [an appropriate] distance from each other.”

I suspect there will be a few more confirmed cases flying in from such a hot spot as the U.K., although they might have already gotten over the virus and not show up in any testing.

Actually the worst is over in the UK and rates of infection are about 0.7 on average, London is 0.4. The people who are getting infected are in care homes and health workers. I don't know anyone who has actually contracted the virus here since I arrived back on 25th March.

In the meanwhile, foreign men with families in Thailand remained locked out due to being from the wrong race?

Still to get 14 days quarantine, UK is not a place to play games with.
