Popular Post cheapcanuck
Wishful thinking on tourists coming in October. Who in their right mind will be traveling out of country if you have to go into quarantine when you get back. The winds have changed Thailand and your not going to get it back doing the same stuff you've done in the past. Adding a word to your already wore out slogan will not cut it going forward.

Popular Post bangrak
Luckily for the overpaid "selected" mandarins from TAT, ridicule does not kill, otherwise... IMHO, there is nothing positive (left!) to be called "amazing" (are these guys even aware of the meaning of the verb "to amaze") in Thailand, well a lot in the opposite direction I'm afraid... As for "trusted", that is exactly one of the weakest points of Thailand: starting with the neighbouring countries, followed by the rest of Asia having contacts, and the immense number of tourists who have visited: as good as nobody is trusting the Thais in general, as a consequence of bad experiences of all possible kinds, two things mostly in common: not getting what was sold/ordered/promised/advertised (even when in a legal contract...), and losing some or all of one's money (even with contracts and Courts). So for Pete's sake! TAT should have a campaign towards Thais involved in all and any commercial activity under the banner of: "Show Thailand can be trusted", THAT, IMO could, after years of continued efforts(!), lead to something positive, in the perception of "the others", all the ones in contact with Thais, and that could matter, and spead by itself! Not a tiny bit of hope it could go that way, though, as for that, as for any positive wind to blow in Thailand: the Thais (with any bit of authority) should learn to relativate, accept to put themselves in question, and I don't see it happening in this century the way things are "evoluating", backwards, in the first decennia of the twenty first one, alas, so sad. Berti
Wow, so much negative energy in all the posts. But I agree, a ridiculous campaign. Even if Thailand would be able to change the image and attract only quality (high end?) tourists, the bahts made with tourism would drop significantly. Didn't they aim 40 million tourists a short time ago because they need more money to raise the standard of living for the Thai people?

Popular Post robsamui
This remains a truly astonishing nation. Their grasp of marketing exists in another time-space dimension to the rest of the world. So we start with pleasantly ambiguous "Amazing Thailand". But it now becomes evident that whoever created that had NO idea that it was catchy because it had a double meaning. And then we "progress" to "Amazing Trusted Thailand" which is truly horrific. I'm now surprised they didn't go all the way and come out with "Amazing Trusted Thailand Honestly Really Truly". The only parallel to this childishly clumsy fail is the blundering embarrassment of a 'promotion' from an international hospital near me. They are known for issuing quick and nasty (and cheap) medical certificates. I heard that some nations are now requesting "Covid-free" medical certificates, so went in to check. "Yes sir, 980 baht." "WHAT! It's always been 250 baht!" "No, sorry sir, it's now 980 baht." "That's ridiculous!" "Ah sir, but you DO get French fries with it." Honestly, really, truly! Utterly unbelievable Thailand.
