Glucosamine without shellfish

Featured Replies

Appreciate info on possibility of finding Glucosamine in Thailand.   It has to be without shellfish.  Checked various sites on web but none indicate product is without shellfish.  If anyone has a similar requirement and they purchased it in Thailand, I would be grateful for info of name of company.   I have asked in 5 different pharmacies but the the pharmacist are unaware that the product contains shellfish.

Thank you

Glucosamine is a placebo at best . All the science says it's useless. Where are u from? Can get dirt cheap in the UK from tradeingredientsdotcom

Or myprotein.co.th

The first you would need to get someone to send. The second is from the UK with a "special" thai price

You're probably looking for a "vegetarian" version.

Is there a reason it has to be sourced not from shellfish?

Is glucosamine safe in patients with seafood allergy?
Heather C. Gray, MD; Patricia S. Hutcheson, BA; Raymond G. Slavin, MD

Shellfish allergy is caused by IgE antibodies to antigens in the flesh of the shellfish and not the shell; therefore it should be safe for patients with shellfish allergy to take glucosamine supplements.

...patients with shellfish allergy were identified on the basis of history and positive skin test responses on chart review. After informed consent was obtained, subjects underwent skin <deleted> testing to appropriate shellfish, a positive histamine control (10 mg/mL), a negative saline control, and glucosamine.

Because glucosamine products might be derived from the shells of shellfish, there is concern that the supplement could cause an allergic reaction in people with shellfish allergies.

"iherb.com" has many forms of Glucosimine.  I usually get my deliveries from them in around 10 days (Bangkok)  Very reasonable shipping costs and no duty ever if order below $75.
