webfact
List of quarantine hotels topped by 5-star wallet-buster By THE NATION Photo credit: LHMH The government has published the list of hotels under the Alternative State Quarantine (ASQ) scheme, which offers travellers to Thailand an alternative to state quarantine facilities. The Thai Consulate-General in Sydney published the list, along with the price of the 14-day mandatory quarantine stay at each hotel, on its Facebook page on Thursday (June 11). The hotels, which have been approved by the Public Health Ministry and Defence Ministry, cover a wide price bracket ranging from Bt32,000 to Bt144,000 for the two-week quarantine. The cheapest ASQ hotel on the list is charging about Bt2,300 per night while the most expensive option is more than Bt10,000 per night. They include: 1. Movenpick Wellness BDMS Resort Hotel, Bt60,300 for 14 days. 2. Qiu Hotel Sukhumvit (79 rooms), Bt32,000 per 14 days. 3. The Idle Residence (64 rooms), Bt50,000 to 60,000 per 14 days 4. Grand Richmond Hotel (66 rooms), Bt55,000 per 14 days 5. Royal Benja (80 rooms), Bt45,000 per 14 days 6. Anantara Siam (8 rooms), Bt144,000 per 14 days 7. Grand Centrepoint Sukhumvit 55 (114 rooms), Bt55,000 to Bt125,000 per 14 days Thai returnees from Australia are required to inform the Consulate-General if they plan to book an ASQ hotel. Popular Post smedly
quarantine is isolation in a room with things being brought to you, only possible benefit staying at one of these places is the quality of food, all other 5 star services that you would normally receive will not be available - so what exactly is the point of paying through the nose for stuff you can't use 4

If I was going to be locked up for 14 days I'd rather do it in a large 5 star suite, jacuzzi, large flatscreen TV etc. than in a dingy little room. Obviously the higher quality food, selection of wines etc. would make a big difference too.

RocketDog
I'm shocked that the government is working with the hotel industry to extort more money from farang. I've never heard of that scheme before. Well, wait, there is that insurance thing with immigration. But other than that...... Wait, there is that thing about...... Never mind. ⚠ < sarcasm alert >

realfunster
I have a friend who works at an international hotel in central Bangkok. Allegedly, requests for a 40% kick-back were made to get on the list. Shameless. His hotel politely told them to take a running jump.

champers
These rooms are for returning Thais not for price gouging of Aussies or any other non-Thais who are not yet allowed back in. The consulate referred to is the Thai consulate where Thais can advise where they want to stay.
