Popular Post rooster59
Pattaya: City unveils ambitious plans to transform Bali Hai as 7 million more tourists expected soon Images: Pattaya City Facebook Pictures of plans to completely revolutionize the area from Walking Street to the Bali Hai port in Pattaya have been unveiled by the local council. Grubby has been replaced by grandiose! The artist impressions show wide open boulevards with Ferraris and well dressed people walking without a care in the world. There are marinas and ocean walkways and everything is landscaped to perfection. A brand new transport system whisks tourists to their destination as they wonder at the new look, innovative and environmentally friendly marvel of the eastern seaboard. There is even a ferris wheel that could become known as the Pattaya Eye like the one in London. The Pattaya City page said that it would all be a tourism landmark and would follow development of U-Tapao airport and the "Eastern Airport City". They called the area the Pattaya "Central Business District" or New CBD. They said that following the airport development an extra 5 to 7 million tourists would be flooding to Pattaya by 2023. The news follows earlier pictures of plans for Walking Street itself that many thought looked like just another mall. Popular Post holy cow cm
Good luck on that one. They cannot make the owners sell, but if they did or could, the lady boys probably would love the new improved areas more having unsuspecting wealthier people doing their snatch and runs. 5

They seem to like that sterile barren stark concrete look... 30 2 2
Popular Post aguy30
All of the pictures look like a cartoon fantasy land that has absolutely no resemblance to the land available in the real Pattaya. The streets are far to narrow to accommodate loosing a lane to a monorail as the can barely handle the existing traffic now. Only 3 stops are planned for 2nd Road and no one is going to walk to and from a distant monorail stop. Traffic will be far worse than now. Popular Post Kaoboi Bebobp
This design looks like it's out of the 1950s, when cars ruled. Utterly without character and it doesn't take into account Pattaya has a lengthy seashore that could, as noted above, be a jewel in Thailand's tourist crown. Beach Road should be a pedestrian mall from Dolphin Circle to the gates of Walking Street, and maybe even farther to the pier. It would be cheaper too. No traffic lights, no motorcycle/car traffic (with anti-vehicle barriers on all the sois), no asphalt, no vendors except for food in food market zones, etc. The walking mall would be jammed. This will never happen. 6

jaiyen
Someones company got a good earner doing fantasy drawings ! So many mistakes. The sea is never going to be a nice blue, and will never see Ferraris cruising. only old motorbikes with sidecars ! Who would pay money to go on a Ferris wheel just to look at the sea ? Popular Post phantomfiddler
Someone has been on the sauce ! How can they, in one article, describe the total death of Patong entertainment area, and simultaneously state that Pattaya is shortly going to have more tourists than it can handle ? Popular Post GlassWayOverHalfFull
You could offer the members of thai visa free gold and they'd still find a way to moan. I have no idea how they go through life with such a cynical attitude. People often ask me what I don't like about Pattaya and it's generally just the people moaning about how things are changing, how the bar fines have gone up and they are being ignored by bar girls looking at their phones. If you drive around Bali hai in the evening there are some spectacular sunsets, and great views across to Wongamat. With the right planning fingers crossed it brings in high end tourists and prices out the two bit retirees whose sole aim in life is to find beer 5 baht cheaper, moaning in their stupid vests. 5 2
