My mutt keeps licking his feet and the area on his legs above the paw, to the point where the skin is raw.

He has no ticks between the paws, and he gets flea baths. Reading online, it might be allergies. He won't eat the crunchy dog food, but likes the cat option. ( go figure ???? )

Any tips or advice please. He has been doing this for a few months now.  THanks in advance.

Sometimes it may be a nutritional deficiency. You can try using loosely applied Ace bandages for a time to see if you can break the habit. Has a Vet taken a look to see is there are any Skin conditions that might cause itching ?

If it has an odor, it can be a yeast infection. Skin allergies possible. Did his diet change recently? Our puppy eats dirt sometimes and I have to distract him, although he's clean and eats well. Puppies do this a lot. If your dog isn't bored it may be the former things. try distracting him anytime this happens.

Manufactured dog food from packets

is not good, full of chemicals and waste.

Get some real meat from butchers,

and a bone to chew on, the natural food

of dogs.

Itchy feet, trip to vets to find cause, but

for now treat with calamine, or aloe vera,

or coconut extract, or apple cider vinegar,

etc. just like its your own paws.

All the best for the little fella.

Yes, because butchers carefully balance the nutrition in every hunk of meat they sell, whilst manufacturers don't give a toss about what goes into their dog food.  Manufacturers' laboratories and testing are just for show.

The natural food of dogs includes not only meat and bones, but skin, organs, stomach contents, fruits, berries, herbs and grasses.

And every physical thing is made from chemicals, including butchers' meat.

One of our dogs did the same. I thought it may have been skin mites but the vet said it was a grass allergy. He gets regular anti allergy jabs now and that fixed his problem.

One of our dogs was a paw licker too.

It was an allergy to something outside. Solved the problem with washing her paws every time we returned from a walk.
