PHUKET:-- Police are investigating the death of a Myanmar man who was found hanged outside the restrooms of a Korean restaurant in Kathu last night, after the man’s friends said the victim was depressed as he had no income due to the COVID situation and he was not allowed to return home to his wife in Myanmar.

BOT orders commercial banks to hold off on interim dividends, bans share buy back

The Bank of Thailand (BOT) has told commercial banks to strengthen their capital ratio in response to the Covid-19 fallout and banned them from paying interim dividends for this year or buying back bank shares.

Pattaya’s beaches rebounded and refreshed themselves during the weeks when they were closed, but now that humans have returned, so has the abuse, with Jomtien Beach quickly littered with trash again.

Banyin attempts suicide in prison after discovery of failed escape plan

Thailand’s former deputy commerce minister, Banyin Tangphaporn, tried to commit suicide while on remand at Bang Khwang maximum security prison last Friday, after prison officials uncovered alleged plots to kidnap the wife of the prison warden to hold hostage in return for his release and to escape while being taken to the court next Monday, if the first plan failed.
