Fake Illusion: Party goers get suspended jail and 10K fines

Eighty five party goers arrested after a birthday party at the Fake Illusion pub in Bangkok were swiftly dealt with by the North Phra Nakhon court in Chaeng Wattana yesterday. 

 

Kawin Nathaseri and 84 others admitted they were in contravention of the Covid-19 regulations after they were arrested in the early hours of the morning congregating and drinking alcohol at the club in Pradit Manutham Road, in the Bung Kam area of the capital.

 

The court gave each of them a year in jail and 20,000 baht fines that were reduced by half to six months and 10,000 baht because they had been helpful.

 

The court further gave them the opportunity to be good citizens in the future by suspending the jail terms for a year, reported Daily News.

So, the court and the BIB made themselves a quick 850,000 Baht. Not bad for a night's work. Bet they're hoping for many more nights of lawless revelers. There'll be some happy mia nois around town tonight!

The court and the BIB don't get the money, so they made nothing themselves.

What a idiotic comment. Those were fines ordered by a court, which means there are paper trails and receipts for payments. Nobody can put those money into their pockets.

In fact honest police because they took them to court so everything was above board and not sorted out with brown envelopes!

To big to conceal, 10 or so people they will get a brown envelope but 80 odd cant hide that so they do it the right way around for this time happens once in a blue moon ha ha

I don't understand your comment. The government tries everything that Corona is under control. But some egoistic idiots think they are above the law and they don't care. Most others can stick to the rules. But some always need to be special... Good to see that laws are enforced.

I was under the impression cops get a % of fines, or does that only apply to on the spot fines ?

But I thought the Good General promised to restore happiness to the people.  Must have been a foolish thing for him to say me thinks in these times of government control.  Control and happiness only go to those in power.  Snap! That's what he thought, he would return happiness to himself by becoming a tyrant and oppressing people.

6 years ago the junta took power and one of the first things that they "promised" was to return happiness and reconciliation to the Thai people. They also promised to stop corruption, clean up the police and the military, have you seen any progress on that yet?

 

The people who are above the law are the military who granted themselves an amnesty for all past, present and future acts that they carry out.

 

The government tells the people that the only Covid 19 in Thailand is coming from Thais returning from abroad, so where is the problem?

 

Now if any of those that partied were tested and found Covid positive and there was a spike of infections from it then I agree with you. If however, they were tested (which I doubt) and nothing comes from it, then it is well past time for the government to scrap the law. They won't do that because that would remove yet another layer of government control and they cannot afford that to happen. Most of the laws resulting from the pandemic were issued under the emergency power act and they will stay on the statute books forever as a measure to control the Thai people.

 

It is all about power to the government and it is/was useful during the pandemic, which, depending on which minister tells you it is OK or not OK.

The court personnel and the police do not get to keep those fines.

The party-goers were in the country where the RTP and the courts have jurisdiction, Vorayuth isn't, so they cannot deal with him.
