Morning wasted at CW

A one year extension will be dated the on the same day of the month as the existing one.

Are you sure that this is the case for O-A visa holders, or only for O? Until the insurance requirement my O-A extension was always dated as the original one from 15 years ago, even if I renewed it a month early. The OP suggests that insurance must be in place at the time of renewal at CW. I would value your opinion on this Joe.

  • What difference will that make ?  It starts 13 of July, so no matter what time I go back it will still be 13th of July.  If I go back tomorrow at 4pm will that make the 13th of July come early ?

  • Declining early renewal before insurance coverage is valid seems like a logical decision. The OP could get hit by an errant plate of flying vegetables on the way home.

This lack of consistency is driving everybody nuts. Some IOs insist that the insurance has to be aligned with your renewed permission to stay. Others want that the insurance already started

No sympathy from me, if you are in Bangkok or Pattaya use an agent and resign from

the "scared of your own shadow" brigade, it's membership is starting to overflow.

Insurance doesn't kick in until late afternoon..

If you had read the fine print you would of seen this.

Go back tomorrow.

What is the need for the fine print anyway? If there is nothing to hide, why can't insurance companies etc, not just be upfront and print every letter the same? Oh! oh! Stupid question.

Did you waste your morning, or did they waste your morning?

Or, did you waste their morning?

It doesn't take much to waste some IOs mornings, sometimes they get out of bed on the wrong side.

So your extension end date changes depending on what date you go to immigration ?

I have always had an expiry date of the 12/07/20.. whenever I have gone. It matters not.

Can not extend my visa ? I have not used the word visa as far as I can see, But when all else fails....

Thais with authority and common sense do not mix.

It is the same for all one year extension applications. The year starts from the same day the previous one was.

For those  getting insurance to for a extension of a entry from OA visa they might start from the day your insurance goes into effect.

What was the reason for your refusal?

when you do an OA extension now the insurance policy has to be active on the day you apply

If you listen to the logic of Ubon Joe it all makes sense.

Some of you other "EXPERTS" need to get a grip.

I did my extension at the end of April of this year, previous extension expired on the 3rd of May, new requirement at least at the Rayong immigration office is that your insurance has to be active on the day you apply, no applying early with the OA visa, so I ended up loosing four or five days, no big deal. Best thing is to get the policy dated as close to your expiration date as possible, hopefully this will not be an issue next year as my policy will be in place

You can renew your extension up to two months before the official renew date of your extension date. The official year date always stay the same like mine 4th Feb. the other date on the same stamp is the day you did it. So it does sound like the insurance has to be valid for the date you apply for the extension, But then would run out before the official year is up. But then sounds like you have to renew again for the next extension to keep the insurance flowing ... like most insurances...

Than they probable wouldn't give you the  12 Month extension Because the Insurance will Expire Before the 12 Months are up.

If TI IT system shows insurance not valid on day and time of application how can they process?

What if OP's old insurance also expires July 13? Then he's covered even if he gets hit by anything flying around. I don't see any logic in the IO's rejection.

Do you know how annual extensions work? You'll get same expiring date year after year (in my case June 26) ,and it has nothing to do when you applied for the extension, but there will also be a stamp showing when you applied.

Feel your pain OP 100%. I've left that place irate at least twice and never feeling good. When leaving without feeling p.o'd...it is simply relief that they actually succeeded in doing their job. Their blatant stupidity and unnecessary "baditude" is infuriating. Those here whom haven't experienced it should consider themselves extremely fortunate. Great for you and hope you never do.
