Thailand’s PM warns opposition MPs not to insult his intelligence

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha hit back at some opposition MPs, from Kao Klai party, on Friday for, what he took as an insult to his and his ministers’ intelligence, their questioning of some Transport Ministry projects, insisting that all of them have been properly screened and transparently implemented.

“We are no less intelligent than the speaker, so do not insult our intelligence.  Public sector projects require a lot of investment, we invest under a PPP (Public-Private-Partnership) structure.  There is a transparent bidding process, and the contracts are then signed in accordance with the law,” he responded, apparently referring to remarks made by Mr. Surachet Prawinwongvut, a Kao Klai MP, during the third day of the 2021 budget debate.

He said he held no personal grudge against Mr. Surachet, adding that his government has never approved a project just to favour any particular individual or supplier.

He warns the opposition not to insult his intelligence.......no mention about everyone else then :clap2:

  • Popular Post

Well he must have a certain amount of intelligence, it takes a lot to come up with all the scams.

Maybe saying don't insult my credentials to be prime minister would be more apt.

Yea, if Prayut wants to give ministerial positions to heroin smugglers, he can!

It doesn’t mean he’s stupid. Just means he’s corrupt.

Only an unintelligent person would act flustered to criticism questioning their intelligence.

I wonder why he didn't learn the English language when he went to school, or perhaps he didn't go to school.

How could....naaaaaah...that is just too easy!

Khun Prayut graduated with a bachelor of science degree from Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy. Like his direct predecessor, Anupong Paochinda, and former defence minister Prawit Wongsuwan, Prayut is a member of the army's "eastern tigers" faction.

Our Khun Prayut studied in Class 12 of the Armed Forces Academies Preparatory School before moving on to Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy in Class 23.

A former commander of the 2nd Infantry Battalion of the 21st Infantry Regiment, he has also held the posts of commander of the 21st Infantry Regiment, commander of the 2nd Infantry Division, and commander of the First Army Area. He was later promoted to Army chief-of-staff then deputy Army chief, eventually assuming the top post of Army commander-in-chief.

Khun Prayut is the chief of the National Council for Peace and Order

Our Khun Prayut Chan O Cha became the prime minister and NCPO chief in August 2014.

That's impressive. But why can't he speak English? He has a degree in 'science', and you'd think that having a basic grasp of the English language would be a very important qualification for becoming top dog in the army and/or prime minster of a sovereign nation.

Unless, of course, these kind of positions are just ceremonial and meaningless. If that's the case, god forbid this country ever has to go to war with foreign enemies.

Do you have any examples?

In this video where he talks about his admiration of the CCP and their Belt & Road Initiative, he starts off with some basic English and then speaks Thai. You'd think someone with his educational background could string a few sentences of English together. Not just, "Yes. Thank you very much. Glad to see you".

Here's an example:

Yea, I can't find any examples of him being able to speak English either.

It's not a good look for him, is it?
