The top brass need to fly in style.  Why not waste some more money. Why not procure an aircraft from Thai Airways and retrofit it.....

The Thais buying a new airplane to replace a three decade old one, without asking permission of the farang. THE NERVE!

Totally tone deaf.  Tons of available used planes now available cheap.

"tone deaf." lol. they just want to replace a three decade old airplane with a new one, but in your opinion, they should instead buy a second one. ridicilous. i think most Thais except Red Shirts and the always-cynical-farang, dont care and think its totally normal.

'Police deny posh plane just for Prawit'  - The Thaiger 09-07-2019

'Critics are alleging that a new 1.1 billion baht 10 seat luxury private jet is being used solely to transport the current deputy PM Prawit Wongsuwan.'

It seems the issue could be resolved very easily and cheaply then if the plane is available for other government people to use.

They could even say they just 'borrowed it from a friend.'

Where is all this Bahr coming from, me thinks they are spending to the brink of Thailands bankruptcy, they have already obtained several large loans to keep the Country afloat, then when this Government is overthrown there will be nothing left in the coffers...

Unfortunately it's the overthrowers that are in charge. I think it's too late for action now. They will be leading this country for as long as they live.

What he meant was ...There is no more money to help 'poor' people.  There is always plenty of money available to help the 'Elite'..i.e. him and his cronies !

Yes, I tried to convey that in my post. The money is not for the poor and it shows they don't give a sh *t about them. I wonder if Thai people will take the hint?

Just ridiculous,

I take a guess that not many police forces worldwide have their own dedicated planes.

And Thailand has probably more than one.

I just can speak for my home country Germany which has a federal state police system, therefore no need to own planes.

However, they have helicopters. Maybe a good idea for Thailand. Better than VIP planes....

Toys for the  boys.

Thai airways have lots of spare aircraft, why not use 1 of them?

Ohh silly me no backhanders if they do that.

Maybe because Thai airways fleet is leased?

And the "opportunities" when spending a very large amount of money are too good to be missed!

Have the farmers received their 15k yet?

Have those who lost their livelihoods in the lock down received financial support?

Is the educational system here so good that it doesn't need to be overhauled and brought up to modern day standards and requirements?

Is the healthcare system, medical staff, hospitals, medical equipment, etc. of such superior quality that celebrities don't need to run the length of the country in an effort to drum up donations for it?

Are the police, soldiers, etc. so well paid that they don't need to take backhanders in order to make ends meet?

The list of issues in this country which should first be tackled before squandering that kind of money of status symbols is as long as my arm.

Again, a limited few taking care of themselves while the majority are simply ignored. Makes my blood boil!

The army is more important than the people
