The British Board of Film Classification has named Joker the most complained-about film of 2019.

Todd Phillips’ violent and divisive supervillain adaptation saw Joaquin Phoenix play the notorious Batman character, later winning an Academy Award for his efforts.

The BBFC are responsible for deciding the age rating for films and TV series across Great Britain. In its annual report, the organisation said that it had received 20 complaints about Joker’s age classification, which was a “15”.

20 complaints on a movie viewed by probably hundreds of million people worldwide.

Start the presses, this is breaking news

The complaints are about its age rating.

Not about the film itself.

20 complaints, in the course of a year, about the age rating of a film, do not a news story make.

Most peculiar of "The Independent" to think that it does.

The guy was mentally ill, became violent, people felt he was a hero.

My complaint is in the taste of people watching and making movies these days.

It’s still a master piece regardless of the subject matter. Phoenix put up a brilliant performance! But people obviously have different tastes and that’s alright because otherwise the world would be boring.

Yes they thought that the under 12 crowd should be able to watch it. The toys are marketed to such folks.
