Hi all, in recent months I've been plagued with my network adapter cutting out frequently. I've tried all the fixes including the trouble shooter all to no avail. Has anybody got any permanent solution to this very annoying problem. Thanks.

Laptop or desktop? WiFi or wired network?

When you say "cutting out" what exactly are the symptoms?

It may be time to simply replace the adaptor or use a USB adaptor if it's a lappie.

Have you determined yet if it's a hardware or software (driver) issue?

To determine if it's a hardware or software issue you can try eliminating your OS by creating and then booting to a Live Boot USB Image of Windows or Linux OS and see if the network issue persists.

If you are running any version of Windows 10, there are known issues some users encounter after updating to the next available bi-yearly version:

Another potential method to fix the issue would be to visit the download/support page for the make/model/version of your PC, download the latest versions of the network drivers to have on hand, then use Device Manager while you UNINSTALL / REBOOT / INSTALL your downloaded Network Adapter driver files and see if that fixes the issue.

Additionally to the above good posts:

Is anybody else using the same network on another computer?

If yes, do they also have problems?

If there is not anybody else can you try it with another device? (PC, tablet, phone, etc.)

If it's a Windows PC open the network adapter settings in the control panel. You will see something similar to this:

Look at Duration: If that reset's then your connection is really cut and established again. It might be a problem with the cable or adapter.

If you use WLAN and the Signal Quality is low then look at the antennas, antenna connection, location of the device.

if on WiFi, maybe you are getting some interference.

That's a good point.

OP, if this is a laptop using WiFi, can you verify your disconnect issue occurs even when using WiFi Access Points at other locations?

WiFi can be strange in some locations.  You can get 1 bar of signal strength, move the modem 1 meter away and you get 3 or 4 bars of signal strength.

You suggest a good idea to try the laptop on another WiFi signal to see if the problem is with the laptop, or the modem / ISP.  Could also tether to his phone hot spot for this, or just go to cafe or bar.
