Hey, I came in to country just before they closed the border without visa (I've been on both tourist and Non-Imm visiting family before), and been on the amnesty since. Has anyone asked/tried if it's possible in this situation to get the 60d extension? Only asking as the wording on the info released by immigration pretty clearly says those on visa exempt have to leave before 26.9.  if not for illness / "obstacles"

edit: I guess I was little ahead of time with the thread as you can start doing extensions next week...

You can apply for a 60 day extension to visit your child nearer to the end of the amnesty. There is nothing in the rules that prevent you from doing one to stay in the country after September 26th.

Is there a Form for the 60 day extension? Or, do I just go into the local immigration office & ask for a 60 day extension from the officer?

I am hoping @ubonjoe is right (he usually is) and immigration is not going to insist that the 60-day extension begins from the end of you last official permission to stay from a tourist entry.

How many 60 day extensions are allowed, mine ended on May 30, was issued just before the amnesty was announced if I remember correctly.  Was on visa exempt at the time.

SiSaKet IO confirmed that when your permission to stay expired and now being on the Amnesty extension, that you can apply for the 60-day extension of stay for reason of visiting your thai wife / thai dependant child.

You can do this any time during the present Amnesty period 1 August - 26 September, and the 60-day permission to stay will start on 27 September (and will thus expire on 24 November).

Note: This was confirmed to a retiree enquiring about his options and whose Non Imm O-A permission to stay expired 1 August but who did not had the necessary finances seasoned to apply for his 1-year extension of stay.

His village marriage obviously did not qualify for the 60-day extension for reason of visiting his wife.  So he now has almost 2 months to get the necessary documents (Free-to-marry) at his Embassy and go to his local Amphoe to then have his official thai marriage, which that will provide him with the Kor Ror 3 and Kor Ror 2 documents, needed for his 60-day extension of stay application for reason of visiting his wife.

In mean time he can also transfer the required funds so that he can apply before 24 November (end of his 60-day permission to stay) for the 1-year extension of his Non Imm O-A Visa (for reason of marriage) and meet the 2-month seasoning requirement of those funds before date of application.

Anyone know if there's something exact/official to write in the "Reasons of extension" box?

There is none.

For the 60 day extension you would write "To visit my Thai wife" (or child if that was the case).

i spent some time doing research and spoke to a number of immigration officers that assured me my extensions would be honored once the amnesty periods were over.
