With zero domestic testing I'm sure they will achieve their goal.. and bleat to the world how smart they all are.

Open the borders then see what happens.

Zero cases of local infection in the middle of a global pandemic is quite simply unbelievable.

Even gold standard of zero cases freaking New Zealand for Christchurch's which are islands has had an outbreak.

Also keep in mind that Thailand is not an island and land border security is far from perfect.

I would believe low cases. But not no cases.

Agree 100%.

The virus is still in Thailand, and there are cases. But the number of cases is in no way overwhelming. Thailand did a good job. The excess rate of deaths from mid of March till Mid of May was around 2400, according to an article published by BBC. As there was no earthquake magnitude 7 during these 2 months in Thailand, it is reasonable to assume that these deaths have to do with Covid. BUT: this number still must be corrected. During the lockdown I assume that maybe only 30 instead of 70 people died in traffic per day. So, excess deaths due to Covic are even 60 x 40 higher than these 2400 mentioned above, hence around 4800. In these two months.

But still this is a very good performance, similar to the widely praised Germany during the same time!!!

And, by the way, similar to Thailand, in Germany neither the hospitals nor the crematories were overwhelmed at any time. The daly deaths rate in Germany due to Cofid is single digit!

Thailand did a very good job regarding Covid. But don't believe the official numbers. These are political. Don't believe that there is no Covid in Thailand anymore. Keep in mind that totalitarian regimes need propaganda about successes to justify their rule. Keep in mind that this is also to control the people.

In my opinion, this Mr Yong of Chulalongkorn University has been acting as a mouthpiece of the government since first time we heared of him. Creating panic and paranoia all the time.

Covid is serious, and much more serious than a flu. But it can be handled well without destroying the ecomomy. Just look at Europe. After the hammer, now the dance.

In Europe, the number of new infections per day equals more or less the patients who recover. Hospitals are available any time when needed. People are still alerted, but nobody is panicking. The big mayority of the poeple practice social distancing and wear a mask where it makes sense. When the numbers increase, as in the recent days, the authorities adjust the measures again. No problem. No Panic. Normal life in Europe is close to normal now.

Is this admission that Thailand does have cases but they are asymptomatic and therefore not tested?

Your implication is that they can still infect others. In that case they will get sick or die and will show up in the stats. So in that sense escaping detection is not likely.
