webfact
PM Says He Did Not Order Student Activist Arrest BANGKOK (NNT) - Prime Minister has been following the student rallies and insisted he has not ordered the arrest of student activists. General Prayut Chan-O-Cha said he has been following up on the political situation, including the student rally and other matters in Parliament. He believes all sides should be logical and avoid violence. He has discussed with all sides to find joint solutions and initiated the idea of the middle ground, which allows everyone, especially young people, to speak and air their problems. The PM hopes that Parliament will solve issues according to the democratic process. The government is not ignoring the protesters’ demands and is preparing to propose a draft to amend the constitution. He requested all members of the House of Representatives to find a way out of this situation, as they are the people’s representatives. He also said, at last, he did not order the arrest of student activists, as it is the police’s duty. PM does not have such power to intervene in the process. -- © Copyright NNT 2020-08-17 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates

nausea
The guy is keeping the country together. How he plays it from here is anybody's guess. No doubt he understands keeping a lid on the boiler ain't really an option. It's a 1976 solution, or somethng else.

There are many players in the top echelons.PM Prayuth was put in place for his malleability and lack of personal leadership skills and not because he had lots of "oomph" to donate to the nation. 6

You took the middle ground out from under their feet when you destroyed the FFP... this is why they are now on the street as that's the only option left to hear their voice. If they can't vote you out they will rise-up and force you out. They don't want you in power, what do you not understand?
