Wondered if anyone has any real world experience with some truck batteries here?

I had a Tiger 3 litre 4 x4 and had used Toyota, Yuasa and some crappy green battery on it, none of them performed that good especially when we got the cold season here in Chiang Mai. That was, until I bought the GS MFX200 Battery that really seemed to have some power.

I now need a new battery for my 2012 Hilux Vigo Champ 2.5TD Intercooler, and as impressed as I was with the GS Battery (maintenance free....I do not want to buy any more of those evap canisters that need to be topped up all the time) I wondered if anyone had any other recommendations?

I cannot find anyone selling Panasonic or Yuasa with the same Amperage that worked for me (100 AH and about 740 CCA) other than GS or FB.

Which ones have you used and how would you rate them? GS was by far the best I have ever used here, but a Thai guy that I really trust often bets on FB, the FB for the same sort of rating are about 30% cheaper, is this why the Thai's like them? For me I don't mind paying a little extra if it performs better and lasts longer and is reliable.

If anyone has any other good brands let me know but I am struggling to find any good choices that have batteries above 85A/H

One last question, (because Toyota Thailand seem unable to answer this) do you know what Toyota charge to run one of those diagnostic scans on a Vigo? - If you contact the Toyota Customer service with this question, the best they can do is refer you to a list of telephone numbers on a partially working website, fantastic! Probably coded by the Windows 95 guy that did the Immigration debacle of a job for 90 day "Online" reporting that has about a 1% chance of actually working.

(I think his brother works here, when you click "EDIT" you get to edit the post, but for some reason, to SAVE the EDIT you have to click EDIT again, some people really have no grasp of simplicity.

Thanks!

On a trip to visit Vientiane, we stayed at a resort in Nong Khai when my battery went dead in the same year, model of your truck. The property manager gave me a jump and I went into the town to buy a battery at a shop that sold many brands of batteries. The top of the line was Bosch which I bought (Recommended by the shop owner) and has lasted much longer than the others. Cost was a few more Baht, but you get what you pay for!! Just Saying . Good Luck!!

Now this I would go for, but here in La la land, I have heard so many stories about FAKES! They get some junk Chinese garbage and brand it with a plastic / paper label and Voila..... a Bosch! (to be honest, I have never heard a good word about Bosch batteries) but that is what I want to hear, I heard great reviews of Yuasa and they were over priced (or fake) junk. If you have any links to a 100AH / 700CCA Genuine Bosch, send it to me, I would love to find one. Thanks!

After twenty years here, forgive me from being cynical, but everything that appears to be Gold usually ends up being a complete turd when you scratch the surface. I tend to stick to Thai brands these day as I know I am buying <deleted>, but not being conned into buying the same Thai <deleted> or Chinese <deleted> branded as German or Japanese. Like Thai, Chinese <deleted> water pumps branded as "Mario Lanza" or "Valentino Rossi" Italiano water pumps! Why Thais would ever think Italians ever manufactured anything of quality escapes me, just look at their <deleted> motorbikes and sportscars, overpriced scrap!

I would agree with the guys that said Boliden. I have seen the make recommended many, many times on this forum over the years.

Interesting that their website is based in the Philippines! (php)

Either of these 2 with the biggest CCA rating available that will fit in your battery tray. You had 740 CCA before but look for something with more than that.

With GS HD and lasting 5 years going on nearly 6 years in 2 vehicles at a reasonable price I look no further not that important really its just a battery.

Just bought another GS for our Isuzu 3 year old truck which had a useless Panasonic battery which came with it.
