The requirement to retun back to BKK

Featured Replies

hey guys,

planning to get the 60 days extension for non-o, then will apply for a re-entry,

need to spend 2 weeks outside Thailand for some urgent biz matters,

what is needed to return back? I have a family and kids in BKK, shall be required the 14 days quanratine?

will need to apply for a visa? or the re-entry is anough?

please advise,

Best regards,

You need the full application for COE from the local Thai Embassy abroad, a seat on the repatriation flight assigned/offered to you and mandatory ASQ Quarantine. Make sure to take all the documents with you that proves your family ties.

You will not be outside Thailand for two weeks. The time taken to arrange your return is indeterminate, but probably a couple of months, depending on where your repatriation flight will be leaving from.

I wonder if one could contact the Embassy abroad ahead of time (while still in Thailand) and requesting the COE + all the other stuff. That would make it easier to time things.

From what I see the application form doesn't ask or require to be out of Thailand / present at the foreign mission at the moment.

I doubt they would do it without being present in the country where you would be flying from.

OP is your trip urgent enough to justify the cost for a ASQ (50 to 80k baht), covid 19 test and the fit to fly certificate and several weeks wait to get a COE. Plus you might have to fly business class to get on the repatriation flight.

the flight schedule to be from BKK - Paris - Casblanca,

I'm seeing there are many flights available via Paris, and Amesterdam,

Could you please share the idea where to get the covid-19 free certificate?

any public hospitals in BKK issue this? can be obtained in the same day? and how much does this cost?

As for the return back, would be advised to apply for 60-day re-entry (non-o) father of 3 Thai kids, Thai wife,

of the process will take longer than 60 days and better apply for a new non-o visa?

any other requirements beside the Covid-19 test? I have a family in BKK (wife + 3 children)

Thanks for the help.

At the moment you can only return on an Embassy issued repatriation flight.

Do not purchase a flight directly from an Airline unless instructed to do so by the Thai Embassy (who, in this case would tell you which flight to purchase).

Under Emergency Degree commercial aircraft cannot carry passengers into Thailand, yet some airlines are still selling tickets ‘hoping’ the emergency decree will be lifted. The airlines are selling tickets for flights they know they will likely cancel - its an immoral a cash grab (refunds take months !).

For return (UK) from a private hospital or medical clinic - cost is about £200-300

The test needs to be taken within 72hours of boarding your repatriation flight.

Results take about 48 hrs in most cases (check with the individual facility).

You’ll also need a Fit to Fly certificate from a Doctor, again, issued within 72hours of boarding your repatriation flight.

Tests can be obtained from hospitals Bangkok for about 5000-6000 baht - these will not be valid for a repatriation flight from your home country to Thailand, the results will be too old.

You will need to apply to the Thai Embassy in your country for a Certificate of Entry in addition to whichever Visa you chose.

CoE requirements are Married to a Thai Citizen - you’ll need a copy of your Marriage cert.

How would they know? At most embassies you apply online / via post right now and not in person. Assuming they want to see the current visa the only thing to hope for would be to not have the previous entry / exit stamp on the same page. Anyway, that's just a thought.

They are not blocking those with a Thai wife or family. You would have to go through about the same process that Thais do to return to here. The only big difference is that Thais can stay for free in state quarantine.

Returning is quite possible.

I did it (application for CoE, Repatriation flights, 15 day ASQ) - but it a PITA with a mismatch of contradictory information and circular requirements.

That said - I know a good few people who’ve returned recently and gone through the same process.

The ‘returning process’ will obviously be much easier from a country where there is less demand from returning Thai’s.

Additionally - news is sneaking out that commercial Passenger flights ‘may' be permitted to operate from October 1st.

This is not confirmed of course and a knee-jerk reaction to a single Covid-19 case could once again shut down 77 million people.

Borther, Idont have that much budget left to pay for the so-called ASQ, $100k insurance, etc..

the past 5 months almost with zero income,,, but still paying for kids school,, family daily life, etc etc,,,

Here we are just sucking our bloods to pay for Thai citizens: wife, and children, and treated as strangers anytime will facing visa troubles, etc,,

Well, thanks for the shared words guys, made me clear in mind to be prepared to load all my luggage (full bag) for no return back here again, feel so pity to guy from Holland suffered and troubled himself insisting so hard, booking for ASQ, etc..

I spent 17 years raising the kids and spending all my hard income here for Thai citizens, now left helpless without any option,, the ONLY option now is to return back home and see my new options there,

You're not listening to what everybody is telling you!

Chill out, and sleep on it.

Also, Thai citizens do not need to arrange a Covid-19 test immediately prior to boarding a flight to Thailand. This requirements can be very difficult to satisfy when leaving from some locations.

If possible you should try doing virtual meeting... save you some time and agony coming back

At least you are still a relatively young man. I've been here 20+ and at 67 do not see going back to the US with any hope of finding work or a place to live...

I wish you luck on your future and that you make the right decisions.

Thanks,, here is somehow a good place live for a while, but is not for a long term future plan to settle down or obtain a citizenship, I still in 40s, the horizon is clear for a foreigner to live here on a temporary situations just like a passenger at a bus stop, living by doing extensions after extensions, 90 days reports, etc
