Cancer Expert

Hi guys,

I have found a suspicious mole on my chest and I an concerned it may be melanoma.

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations about where to go to get this checked out? I read elsewhere on this forum that there weren’t many skin doctors that specialised in skin cancer as it is very rare in Thais. How true this is, I don’t know, however any personal recommendations of anyone who has been in a similar position would help.  Thanks in advance.

Chulabhorn Research Institute may be worth a look...it started off just for cancer but has now expanded

I don't know if this is available outside of the UK, but I have used the following online site which is run by an awesomely qualified consultant, who I've been very impressed with. If you're looking for an easy first opinion, you just need to get some quality high resolution pictures to them. He will be able to give you a quick opinion on whether it is cancerous and should be checked out locally or just needs monitoring.

I have had 2 skin cancers mole removals, thankfully at an early stage and one which does not appear to be. The latter they are simply monitoring with digital photos to see if it changes.

You need to see a dermatologist. Not a cancer expert.

Although the field is dermatology most of those in Thailand have very little experience with cancer and even less with foreigners skin.  A dermatologist with experience with cancer and foreigners is what OP needs and is not easy to find as few Thai have skin cancers and they may not appear the same as on those with other skin types.  About the only experience most will have here is photos.  And preventive treatment can be lacking from personal experience at several of the largest Bangkok private hospitals not even having basic Cryosurgery facilities.
