My Air Conditioner keeps making a "click" noise

Hi, my first post here (hence the username, couldn't think of a better one).

My air conditioner keeps making a click kind of noise, at least once a minute on average. It is driving me crazy.

However I had a bad first experience with an air conditioning mechanic, who scammed me into paying extra to top up the coolant when I later found out this is a well known scam.

So to save me money, can anyone give an opinion on why my aircon keeps making a clicking sound? This has pnly started in the last few weeks. The air conditioner is roughly 5 years or older.

Thanks and I am glad to have joined this community!

Roughly five years old or older is very definitive. Maybe get it cleaned of gekkos and sh...t.

And keep a record of the clicks in your diary.

clickbait....hmm..geckos got into my mother board and shorted it out..cost me 4,500 baht to replace..looking at putting fine gauze inside..hope you find the reason.

Use fine gauze. Mine was shorted by an ant whose corpse was still in place. Didn't cost 4.5 K thank god.

I had similar issues with one of my aircons, and like others have said, it was only really obvious when in swing mode. Problem was faulty/broken drive mechanism for vanes. Got a ridiculous quote to repair it - so just turned off vertical swing - problem solved!

Is it your swinging air vane by chance?  You can turn that off to check.  If it is perhaps can change direction of air flow blades but could require professional service if unable to correct.

yes, it may well be that the swinging vanes are catching, easy fix, just check that the vanes are clear  and can move easily.  Bit of WD40 to ease them may help.
