BANGKOK(NNT)-A new subsidy campaign has been launched by the government, allowing registered persons to receive a subsidy granting half the price of any of their purchases at participating stores with a cap of 3,000 baht per person throughout the campaign. Registration is set to open in October, for all Thai nationals.

The campaign called Khon La Krueng, which is essentially the revival of the previous Chim Shop Chai campaign last year, will provide a half price subsidy for purchases at eligible stores, with a total cap at 3,000 baht per person, available for 15 million successful applicants who must register themselves on the www.คนละครึ่ง.com campaign website by October.

This new campaign, as approved by the government’s COVID-19 economic recovery center, will have a more open eligibility requirement compared to other government campaigns related to the COVID-19 crisis. Persons who have already benefited from other campaigns, such as the payout, farmers compensation, social security, and welfare card program, are eligible to apply to participate in this new campaign.

Eligible purchases made as part of this campaign, in which the government will provide a half price subsidy, must be made electronically using the Krungthai Bank’s G-Wallet app. The subsidy is to be provided with a daily cap of 100-250 baht per person, and an overall cap of 3,000 baht throughout the campaign. Purchases can also be made at any 7-11 convenience store.

The only requirement for participation in this campaign is that applicants must be Thai nationals aged more than 18. Each person can only receive a benefit from this campaign once, while the subsidy provided can’t be exchanged for cash. The campaign will run for three months, from October to December.

Ooh, Just in time when the popularity meter hits rock bottom. A new like me a little bit more alimony. What a great idea, now the popularity meter will shine again for 60 days. It´s like a tourist visa. This guy also think it can be extended forever.

3000 baht could be a lot of money for those out of work,as there are a lot of them right now, do to the lack of tourist dollars. Every bit helps if you have nothing to eat.

You do realise this is not a handout... it's 50% off something you buy.

Which means you have to have the money to pay for something.

Again, this won’ get to those who really need it.

Wonder how this can be applied for, but the proceeds be passed on to those who are desperate.

Probably find the head of  villages  will do it for a "fee"

Same as the tourism support schemes. You need to have money to go on a holiday. It seems most of their measures are misdirected. It is great to have schemes to stimulate the economy but looking after the poor should come first.
