Health Minister Becomes WHO’s Southeast Asian Chair

 

 

BANGKOK, Sept 9 (TNA) — Deputy Prime Minister/Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul becomes the chair of the World Health Organization’s Regional Committee for South-East Asia.

 

Mr Anutin said that 14 member countries of the committee elected him to the one-year-term post partly because Thailand effectively controlled the coronavirus disease.

 

Thailand had not concealed its COVID-19 situation and its revelation about infected people early this year led to public awareness and good responses to the outbreak, he said.

Well now there it is. The WHO has been really terrible on assessing the pandemic and ushering in smart procedures the entire time, and now they choose a racists know it all who knows zero.

Another mega-rich mama's boy looking to appear more important than his intellect justifies. He has no formal medical credentials and appears to have little medical knowledge other than pushing for legalization of medical marijuana. Does anyone here believe that he made any sort of contribution to Thailand's apparent 'control' of coronavirus? Having embarrassed Thailand so much in recent times, he will go on to add to WHO's embarrassments over its handling of the disease.

Hahahaha .. now folk outside of Thailand will get first hand experience of his buffoonery .. 

I am stunned to be honest. What bunch of morons thought that sticking a proven clown into such a position was a smart idea, or that it would help their global credibility, which at the moment it is already pretty much on the floor?

The WHO had little credibility before, with that plonker involved, what little WHO had will now vanish.

I had to read this twice because I was convinced I must have misunderstood it. It is unbelievable. 

 

Prior to this, I disagreed with Trump's taking America out of the WHO, but now I think he was probably correct. 

The WHO is on China's payroll, judging by their handling of the coronavirus.

This appointment seems totally in keeping with the current WHO senior hierarchy and the organization's performance during this pandemic.

 

I have good friends who work for WHO based in Switzerland. Not the prestigious organization people might imagine!
