The big problem is that if all the figures for Covid are lies and the country suddenly explodes with a second ???? infection which the government will blame on people coming in from outside the country . Then the government will start all this over again and use curfew etc again and what has already gone on in the last 6 months will be repeated for 6/12 months but with far higher infection rates which they can’t control . Then people will be losing jobs left right and centre and most places like samui , Pattaya , Phuket etc will look like wastelands for years

Its exactly what they want ,PCR testing is identifying old virus material ,too amplified.Project must be maintained at all costs, you ready to believe its not about virus, only NEW economics & control, its being put in place Now

The scoops are not coming now. Wait until end of -21 or -22. 
And life time scoops for sure doesn’t come in a cars, motorbikes or household items which will only be new problems being transferred to you.

70's and 80's were good years for tourists.

Good exchange rate, Western, Australian and Americans visiting, not ripped off severely, Thais happy to see customers, no Chinese, backpackers in abundance. People spending money in Mama Pappa shops, bars and restaurants.

Thais and falang getting along, enjoying The Kingdom and life.

I think the older folk, Thai and visitors would prefer those times to return.

Or is it just me?

No it won’t.  Banks are the new owners of many locations. Truckloads of

hotel interiors, motorbikes etc is being shipped out of tourist areas. The buildings are there, but the owners are not. The banks will go broke if they are not securing their assets from not paying thai bank customers and companies with huge failed loans to pay.

Many houses near us have suddenly set up kitchens in their gardens and are delivering food via Grab, Panda or whatever. Are they registered? i doubt it.

 

It seems several houses are now being rented out for parties for HiSo's, for gambling or other "activities" ( no control, free flowing drinks, unlimited number of guests, wild orgies with young "pretties"). Yes, I have seen them.

 

That is just in the soi where I live. What about all the other places?

Eating snails and snakes is not for everybody, not even thais. Other countries with democracy has a system where people get at least som job security and social benifits. Thailand has none. The great majority of thais will not starve to death, just almost. Other countries take beter care of it´s citizens than that.

 

The bath will remain high.

There are a number of reasons for the strong bath.
Thailand has a very low national debt. No cost for social security and low spending on national health. The political elite can pretty much use the state coffer as a personal wallet using it to reward friends and keep the military pleased.
The general majority of the thai people is poorly educated, because the elite wants it that way. It ensures cheap labor for the manufacturing- food and service industry. Since Thailand is not a democrasy the ruling class can keep a low minimum wage (300 thb/day) and long working hours.
Together with a good infrastructure it can keep Thailand competitive for assembling foreign owned goods for export in spite of the high bath. In a democracy the workers would have demanded higher wages and thus a falling competitiveness.

The only thing that would put pressure on the bath is that before it had 30 mil tourists a year coming buying thb for consumtion. That´s gone for some time but it hasn´t affected the bath to much, maybe because of the depreciation of the dollar.
