A team of police officers and two water cannon trucks have been made ready to control protesters who will march to Parliament at 4pm on Thursday (September 24).

At 11am, reporters at the Kiak Kai intersection said some people had arrived at the protesters’ assembly point and were waiting to witness the result of the debate on charter amendments.

Meanwhile, police blocked both sides of Sam Sen Road to prevent crowds from rushing into the area and has stationed two water cannon trucks to control crowds, and two prison vans to pick up protesters who violate the law.

The situation early in the afternoon was peaceful, though more anti-government protesters are expected to start gathering from 4pm and will be there until 10pm.

Seriously ? Getting out the water cannon on your populace as they want better democracy - this is just showing the world how far Thailand has slipped round the democratic u-bend !

Yeah... should follow World's biggest democracy, the MAGA land and start shooting them, right?

They did that already... before  remember ?

Yes, that happened in front of my house. And after all that time of terrorizing and looting around this area, I was ready to go and start shooting them by myself...

Water canons cannot wash away or quench the people's desire for freedom from corruption, nepotism and injustice.

No but they can put a dampener on your day

Any members seen any news of the protest?

Al-Jazeera night-time reporting (correspondent outside Parliament) shows people sitting down listening to protest speeches with no signs of confrontation or potential violence.

Also analysis and discussion with informed observers and commentators via Skype, etc.

Yes, two things can't be wrong at the same time, right?

You only have to look at the so-called long established and oldest institutions who have supposedly have democracies  such as the UK and USA and seriously they are not and only a very small percentage of their populations bother to vote and yes there may be Parliament but rules etc are pushed through and slyly.

Tiananmen Square comes to mind.  Please be careful folks it is ratcheting upwards and those of us that have been here for awhile have seen what can occur.

Pathetic, heavy handed tactic by the clowns.

Not as bad as the murder of Bangkok who ten years after shooting the <deleted> out of 300 odd students, put up for Governor and couldn't understand why people hated him, thats the mind set you're up against.
