As it should be... If anyone is being honest with themselves, if they could, they wouldn't pay any taxes either.

But WE don't CHEAT by under-reporting. 45 lies about everything else, why would you expect him not to lie on his returns?

Fortunately we have your posting record to refer to.   The only ‘truth’ you’ll ever listen to is the constant stream of lies pouring out of the mouth of your your leader.

So, the GOP electoral platform is all about keeping Trump financially afloat for the next 4 years, maybe more if "negociation"- at least it's clearly what Trump followers vote for.

It’s increasingly clear that Trump’s ‘platform’ is keeping himself out of prison.

Does it matter? I presume that whatever tax he pays is legal. No different to many rich people/organisations who pay little/no tax cough Apple.

Agreed.

So why hide it?

No clue if the Brad Parscale, former trump campaign manager, melt-down is related to this news? Maybe just another disgruntled former employee.

The Times also reported that Trump is currently embroiled in a decade-long Internal Revenue Service audit over a $72.9 million tax refund he claimed after declaring large losses.

Is that the best you can come up with   The sad fact about Donald Trump, he is a small time confidence man. Not even big time. Now he can go big time if he bankrupts the US. Given his past history, his track record, getting fuller documentation thanks to the New York Times, he could well do that.

BTW this is likely what the Atlantic magazine meant when they said "this is just the beginning" about Donald calling  US soldiers 'suckers and losers.'. They know a few more shoes were/are going to drop.

Time to stock up on the popcorn.

Which Michael Cohen claimed on TV earlier is a lie by Trump because he said Trump does his own hair.

So Trump was a flimflam man who never paid tax. Who'd have thunk it.

Before his supporters say that it's smart to pay no tax that is true if there is underlying profit. If you pay no tax because of losses, at casinos etc etc, it is not the sign of the world's best businessman.

Who in their right mind would admit to that! ????

This revelation will not change the views of Trump's core supporters. They do not care.

If the revelations are true, Trump presents a serious security risk for America. He needs money and will do whatever he has to do to keep his garish lifestyle afloat. There is a reason why the CIA, FBI, NSA and other intelligence services will not keep employees with financial problems: They are easy prey.

At some point, the house of cards will collapse. Whether or not Donald Sr. will be alive when it happens is a different story. I expect that Donald Jr. and Eric will be be around and will be held accountable.  Jim Bakker thought he was untouchable and then his PTL empire collapsed and he went to jail.  Jerry Falwell Jr. thought he was untouchable, but then the pool boy talked. No one is too big to be taken down.

I expect that state and federal criminal and civil charges will eventually be brought. Best of all, none of the federal or SCOTUS judges appointed during the Trump era will be allowed to hear the cases. Charles Kushner, Jared's father, plead guilty to 18 counts of tax evasion, witness tampering, and making illegal campaign donations.  I expect similar to occur with the  Trump boys, except the charges may be more serious.

Amazon did not pay a dime either.

Amazon is not the Trump corporation. Different structure and different jurisdictions.  Yes, a company like Amazon should pay taxes.  The republicans made it possible for Amazon to minimize its tax obligations. You ignore the fact that the Republicans cut taxes  and changed the tax code in 2017. You also ignore the fact that the US tax code allows taxes to be deferred (In excess of $900 million for Amazon.)  Companies like Amazon which have invested heavily in infrastructure, R&D and training  are given tax credits and Amazon has invested billions of its own money in the USA. In 2019, Amazon paid $276 million in state income tax, $162 million in federal income tax and $1.1 billion in foreign income tax.  Because Amazon is public it must file full disclosure. Very different from Trump who refuses to  disclose his tax returns publicly.  You bet I would like to see Amazon pay  more in taxes, but the reality is that Amazon  contributes more to the USA than  Trump corporation ever has.

And the average human won't have a chance in hell of comprehending tax returns at that level.

Guess what, the average human also doesn’t have a chance in hell to comprehend NSA documents about Spyware. That’s why we have excellent journalists and experts combing through those documents. Which is why Donnie tried everything to hide it. But as with everything he does, he failed at it. Duh.

Righto. You obviously don't want roads with decent lighting, bridges to cross ravines and rivers.

Might as well disband the police and fire service too. Better start educating your kids at home (unless you are filthy rich). Throw away social security and let people starve. After all, if you're poor, it's your own fault anyway. Let the injured veterans take care of themselves.

Sounds like Tea-party heaven.

Oh not not the hair!  Anything but that!!

He is going to have to teach someone how to make his hair look the way it does, lest when he's laid to rest no one will know how to make it look the way it does now.  Or they will just slap a wig on him.

Image is important, y'know.

It doesn't matter at this point, this news will not alter the poll numbers.

He can run for re-election from inside prison, or a mental hospital, he'll still get at least 35%.

Poll numbers are meaningless. Not because they're just a snap-shot in time, but, more importantly, how many of the people polled will actually vote?

Trump actually has this one right. I admire anyone who legally gets away with not paying their fair share of taxes. The more we pay the more we encourage government waste.

Who are we trying to kid here? Is anyone really saying they would side with the irs? Anybody screwing the irs is a hero.

Trump was complaining about other companies not paying taxes. Trump complained half the American people didn't pay taxes. Get your talking points in order, sir!

Geee! What a surprise!

Looks like another big yawn.  The media will bang the pots and pans as long as they can to try to make it an issue.  It'll fade like the others.

This is not necessarily about tax evasion, as much as it is 17 failed enterprises. It takes alot of hubris to have that many businesses fail. Trump steaks. Trump University. Really? Taking a course from a man who dropped out of business school? Trump airlines.

I think the two primary reasons he does not want his tax returns released is they will demonstrate both his total lack of charitable giving and his bank fraud.

No worries. Just a few more months of this guy, and the world will be freed from his foolishness.

This is about Trump's personal finances, not the corporation.  I believe another poster mentioned that.  But that said, it's not true.  Amazon payed tax:

In its annual regulatory filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Jeff Bezos' sprawling e-commerce empire said it paid $162 million in federal income taxes on $13.3 billion of U.S. pre-tax income, an effective tax rate of 1.2 percent. It deferred more than $914 million in taxes.

This is in fact a national security problem.  Trump still owes hundreds of million and we know there isn't a legitimate US bank who will loan money to him.  Enter Putin.  Clearly Vlad has Trump by the gonads, which is why Trump will never question the Russians.  The most recent poisoning of a Russian political rival has shown that Trump is scared shtless of Putin and will never utter a disparaging remark.  American foreign policy is not supposed to work under the order of Moscow.

We have all known Trump to be a lying, corrupt conman.  But we thought at the very least that he was a successful conman.  He's not even that!
