Funny how the USA is in shambles every 4 years right about election time according to the leftist media, and the uneducated masses gobble it up.

The rest of us are limping along with record stock market gains, record bonuses, record low interest rates.  Basically printing cash this year.   More shambles please..... ????

Must be hard being on a plateau looking down with false security of not being in a glass house.

Fortunately we have your posting record to refer to.   The only ‘truth’ you’ll ever listen to is the constant stream of lies pouring out of the mouth of your your leader.

Timed hit piece by the liberal New York Tomes.  It won’t save Joe Biden, though.

so  what, anyone with any  money will  avoid  tax at  all costs.

At all costs? Including fraud? Like claiming a 70 million plus refund on a property that you claim is for business but is really a family retreat?

Doubt it is timed, media tend to publish asap, they're always afraid someone else takes the scoop away from them.

Time for you to read the op, many illegalities involved.

I don't see them in the OP. What I see is arm wrestling about something being deductable or not.

Ok, then it's likely legal. Ethics are another matter, up to the voters if they care or not.

Except that he's stll being audited. One huge bone of contention is the 75 million refund he got based on his claim that an estate of his is run as a business. Actually, it's the family retreat as numerous posts from the family explicitly say.

If his tax filings followed the IRS rules and still managed to avoid paying taxes then I would say he did the right thing.  What idiot would avoid deductions so they can pay income tax?  If in the other hand he claimed detections he is not entitled to or falsified his deduction in some way then I would say he is in a heap of trouble.

Poll numbers are meaningless. Not because they're just a snap-shot in time, but, more importantly, how many of the people polled will actually vote?

If the poll is done properly, about the same percentage as will the electorate at large.

Oh I absolutely agree with you. I'm sure it's absolutely nothing and will be easily rectified when he shares his tax returns...........you know, the ones he's been promising to share for the last 4 years but for some unknown reason hasn't quite managed to do yet.

Now where's that sarcasm font?

You must be one of his accountants or bankers to have that information, yes?   So how much confirmed, i.e. audited, money did he make from The Apprentice and how much (audited) did he lose on his other businesses?

Apprentice about 450m.

Other biz, at least 1b.

Trump's current financial distress also explains why the 2017 tax bill so heavily favored real estate and limited partnerships. Real estate deals via limited partnerships is how Trump does most of his business.

yes, electoral promise kept!

"Obama said that because his tax returns were public during his presidency, he wouldn't be able to take advantage of any loopholes. He added that he's happy to contribute, however, because of what the country has given him."

It is more likely that this is indicative of his extreme lack of business acumen, than tax fraud, though fraud is certainly a possibility, knowing the nature of the man. 17 of his businesses have failed in the past few  decades. Some at huge losses. Trump Steaks, Trump Shuttle Airline ($120 million in losses between 1988 and 1990), GoTrump, Trump Vodka, Trump Mortgage, Trump University, Trump Ice, The New Jersey Generals, Tour de Trump, Trump Network, Trump Magazine, Trumped!. Many businesses that licensed his name went bankrupt, or went out of business. And he had between four and six major bankruptcies (depending on the source), including the Trump Taj Mahal (which he spent $1.2 billion building, and was $3 billion in debt within a year of opening), Trump's Castle, Trump Place Hotel (which was very successful prior to Trump buying it in 1988, and he managed to put it into $550 million in debt by 1992!), Trump Hotels and Casinos Resorts ($1.8 billion in debt by 2004, bankrupt in 2009) , and Trump Entertainment Resorts. There are likely others. And this does not take into account the 3,600 lawsuits he was involved in as of the time he took office, the vast majority of which were filed by small contractors against his companies for non payment, or total default. Many of these contractors were crushed. It is part of his M.O.

Nearly anything with his name on it, and his association with it, fails. And that will be even more so, after he loses the November 3rd election. His name will remain radioactive, the the rest of his life, and the mini empire will continue to dwindle. During the period from 1985 to 1989, three years of which were boom year in NY real estate, he somehow managed to lose $359 million. Between 1990 and 1991 he lost $517 million. And between 1992 and 1995 he again managed to lose $286 million.

The real irony of his whole persona, is that he cannot negotiate his way out of a paper bag, much less negotiate a treaty with an adversary, which makes him very dangerous.

There is a very good chance his tax returns will reveal massive bank fraud. And he could be facing prison time, once he is ingloriously ushered out of the White House in January (possible by US Marshalls, should he resist).

Always have to take with a pinch of salt anything published by the leftie extremists at NYT.  Seeing actual evidence would be nice.  Even if he did minimise taxes, so what?  The government at the time certainly didn't spend it well enough so that anyone should pay more than they absolutely had to.

The thing is, it looks like he paid less than he absolutely had to. Also, one big reason for his not paying taxes is that most of his businesses were failing.

Always a good Trump tweet,  do as I say not as I do

https://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/03/us/politics/trump-taxes-twitter.html

@BarackObama who wants to raise all our taxes, only pays 20.5% on $790k salary. http://1.usa.gov/HFZJKH Do as I say not as I do.

Quelle surprise.  No news here, folks.  Obviously, if you don't release your taxes and you fight tooth and nail to keep them from being released you have something to hide and something you want to stay hidden.  Now we see why.

We've already had a nice piece of confirmation thanks to the non-denial denial of Trump's lawyer. He claimed that Trump paid millions in "personal taxes". You'll note that he didn't say "income taxes".

Because that's why there is such a thing as statistics.

The only thing I knew about Trump before he  was made president was the way he tried to intimidate some man into selling his house in Scotland, so he could build a bigger golf course.

There were several programs on tv about how nasty he was being to this chap that was living there on his own.  No idea weather he did sell to him or if trump just built around him

He also cut off the water supply of another person similarly situated. And that golf course is also why he hates wind turbines. He felt that their construction offshore would spoil the view from his golf course.

Indeed, let us see what the Southern District of New York Prosecutors do concerning tax fraud. Hmm, a bit more that a news report fo anyone who uses their head for something more than a hat rack.
