Finding someone who is prepared and able to demolish such a large building has proved problematic.

Now 11 private companies are being consulted who may be able to finally rid the skyline of one of Pattaya's most infamous eyesores.

I can see it already: they're gonna demolish the wrong building..., and then run away :w00t:

I think they will have a real problem bringing that building down if they try using strictly a controlled explosion demolition.  You see in the 2 videos above how tall buildings can start to tip over as they are coming down. In the first video, the top of the 2nd building ends up tipping over and falling onto the rubble of the 1st building and I'm betting that was just a lucky happenstance.
In the second video you also see the top of the building tipping over and nearly landing on the buildings just a few meters away. Ideally, in both cases, the tops of the buildings should have dropped straight down, not tipped over.

For what a controlled explosion demolition? - That’s far to risky !

Just hire a few Arabs, who never flew an airliner before, give them one of those airliners, Thai Airways is not using anymore - and let them crash it into the Waterfront Condo !

Worked 19 years ago in September really good !

These are world’s best demolition experts!

Not only, that both buildings, they hit in one of the higher floors, came down perfectly without tipping over

- they even managed to bring down another building, without hitting it, WTC 7 .

????

That’s bad luck I suppose for all the end consumer buyers and their down payments ????

One of many...

why don't they just get the same guys who did building 7 ?

Or ask someone who knows what they're doing... but you'll have to wait another 14 days, but what's that after so many years !

How can you build something that big for 5 years without planning approval .Amazing Thailand

I don't want to promote any conspiracy theories, but just remotely fly two planes into the building, and it will just collapse vertically.

Thailand, explosives, demolition. What could possibly go wrong!

Just about everything.

Hell, I'll pitch in for the demo crew. That horror needs to go. Next up, Central.

>Ghost tower.
There's no reason to raze any one particular redundant building when the whole city is a ghost town. Raze the redundant walking street and replace it with a quiet sandy beach with palm trees.

If it was built without planning permission,  how is it that nobody down in the town hall spotted it before it go so high ?

what dates have been set for this, this would be worth flying down from udon thani to see this. what an excuse to demolish half of walking street at the same time.

Town hall is on the north side of the city, I guess somebody finally found out about it while looking out the back window.

Shame Fred Dibnah's not around anymore, he could have burnt it down on the cheap.

Fred and Zed may be dead.

It could be used as an ASQ to keep all the f'rrangs in one place .. and make 'em pay for the privilege to claw a bit of dosh back ..

A monument to corruption.

And a graveyard for millions of US Dollars pre-paid by buyers who lost it all. Thanks to Israeli construction mafia (Kobi and friends) and Pattaya City Hall Mafia.

Whilst in Shanghai I watched a skyscraper being demolished with nothing but brawn and sledgehammers.

Cheaper to blow it up than finish it ?????

Sell to Chinese..... or swap for a submarine, problem solved!!

I'm hoping it goes, it's a monstrosity and totally out of place, dominating the Big Buddha and the lookout point.

Who issused the planning permission in the first place and why are they not being prosecuted ?

Are you dreaming? Officials from the land department being prosecuted? Very amusing.

Good news though !

At least 4 property sites are still listing condos for sale in that project ! Not one of them mentions anything about the project being "delayed" or cancelled.

I'm kind of curious what they would say if someone made an enquiry.........

Go on! Why don't you?!!!????

'' However, court battles remain and the issue is unlikely to be resolved any time soon.'' ...... a bit like the 101 illegal structures along the seaward side of Walking Street !!

Ah, I know a solution.

Place some fertilizers on a barge docked to Bali Hai and wait a bit.

There is a Ferris wheel and rollercoaster near Fashion Island BKK that demoralizes me every time we go by it, it was all a scam, never completed, never opened, (afaik), now it sits rusting and sinking since the late 2000s, back into the jungle from which it briefly sprung. Now part of my Zombie Apocalypse landscapes of Thailand of which there are too many.

Have they not asked the local motorsai taxi lads to do it?

Yes, I remember a long running thread elsewhere and disgruntled buyers that bought off plan.

An equally outrageous building permission in my book was Central Plaza, built so near next to View Talay 6, rendering dozens of condos near useless.

edit.

2 pics added taken 2005 and 2006, first from top of High Five Hotel soi 8, looking across where VT6 was to be built and second 2005 from big Buddha hill.

(all pics came out green from Aldi traveler camera)
