Thailand to slowly restart tourism with flight from China

Under Chinese labor laws, employees who have worked continuously for one year are entitled to paid annual leave.  The statutory vacation period, based on years of service, is as follows: More than 1 and less than 10 years service: 5 days vacation. More than 10 and less than 20 years service: 10 days vacation.

Unfortunately, it looks like the Chinese don't get enough holiday time to even enjoy 14 days of quarantine.

So how long are these Chinese tourists planning in staying at Phuket? If they have to do the first 14 days in quarantine, they surely would stay on for another 2-3 weeks minimum after quarantine to make their holiday worthwhile. So that makes it quite a lengthy and expensive holiday, especially as they all need to pay for their $100,000 covid insurance policies.

i believe they are coming on long-stay tourist visas.  valid for 90 days, extendable twice.

travel insurance with $100k covid cover is available for less'n $50/month.

These numbers are bonkers!

Who's spending 832,125 bhts to vacation in less than a month? And 1,200 of them?!? And at the worst time to vacation??

"The government predicts just 6.7 million"

Just?!?

I know Thailand is a famous vacation hub, but jeeezus....39.8 million in 2019?!? No wonder they don't give a ph*ck about the 150,000. That's chump change.

Scrap the vaccin plans!

According to Michael Moore documentary producer, of Flint USA fame, the WHO don't expect an effective vaccine for at least four years.

The New Zealand Government has found that the Covid19 tests are unreliable.

A Chinese Scientist reported on the Tucker Carlson Show that the Chinese Government deliberately released the Wuhan Virus.

The CIA is working through the youth movement to remove Thai Government. Prayut and the Thai Government are seen as lapdogs of the People's Republic of China

Government spokeswoman Traisulee Traisoranakul expects 1,200 tourists in the first month, generating about 1 billion baht ($31.55 million) in revenue and 12.4 billion baht over one year, drawing in 14,400 tourists.

These figures have been pulled out of someones ass. Very few tourists can afford to spend $26,000 a month.

A more realistic figures could be anywhere from $1,000 to $10,000 a month

Considering Chinese were the largest tourist nationality to Thailand pre Covid...and that they supposedly have controlled the virus...it makes sense to court them first...

The largest purely due to tour groups which are run by Chinese travel operators using chinese owned Buses and Hotels probably flying on a Chinese airline. The Chinese tourists spend very little money in Thailand and all the money they pay for the holiday stays in the hands of Chinese businesses.

Sure they account for the largest percent of tourists but lets not kid ourselves that any of the money they spend goes towards the Thai economy

Again, totally ignoring the thousands of retirees stranded around the world with wives, children and families in Thailand. People who have lived and contributed hundreds of thousands/millions of baht to the Thai economy.

And here we are, big deal, bringing in 150 Chinese to 'kickstart' the Phuket economy. Ahem, time to leave Phuket methinks.

When is the last time you spent 832,125 bhts a month?

The chinese completely destroyed Sihanoukville, the beach haven of Cambodia, in a remarkably short time, is Pattaya next ?

Yes. They already started with lower Jomthien. Local Chinatown. Another hotspot was The Base, illegal hotels, which must be pretty quiet at the moment.

I am pretty sure those who will come here are ones with business interests ( land projects, condos,

or something)  that need to come to manage or assess the damage.

I do not think they are coming for 2 week quarantine and then the beach !

i'll bet my last yuan on it.....

mmmm...low risk countries (China ???) to be the first allowed to re-enter Thailand.......

Hang on....wasn't that the origin of this now world wide problem??

They weren't too forward when it was discovered so what makes anyone think their current low risk assessment is anywhere near correct ??

To be honest...China & Thailand are two peas in a pod & deserve each other ????
