Thai media 77kaoded reported that tourist police, rescue and salvage services were informed after a yacht washed up on Nopparat Thara beach in the Ao Nang area of Krabi.

The yacht's owner is a British man who arrived in the area from Phuket on Friday.

Heavy seas caused the ship to come loose from its anchor and wash ashore.

Salvage operations - viewed by many bystanders - had to be delayed due to high seas but eventually the vessel was righted and found to have a hole near the rear.

It is now undergoing repairs.

The media gave no name for the owner though they published a picture of a foreigner trying to avoid the camera.

Britannia ruled the waves.. now the waves ruled this Brit ????

No wonder he did not want to be seen if you cant properly secure an anchor.

In dodgy conditions you should always have an 'anchor watch'. If sailing alone set alarm to wake up and check every hour, at least.

You can be double sure the Thais will be studying marine salvage laws like the clappers.

Yadong all round for everyone tonight lads.

Even Prawit probably doesnt have an anchor watch.

In any case im sure his 'i've hit the bottom alarm' went off. A duel purpose alarm, one mode for the nauticalists and the other for late night bar hoppers.

What you can do is set two anchors. I had a 26 Columbia in Florida years ago and that what i did.

Two anchors will also secure the boat and prevent it from shifting from side to side
