Insurance required for retirement extension?

Just got this in email from a friend:

"New health insurance requirement for retirement visa........well, Immigration just added it!

I saw the notice when getting my 90d report done."

He didn't provide any link, etc

Anyone going by immigration today? anyone have some light to throw on this?

Put this in Pattaya topic as immigration "rules" tend to vary from location to location...

On my OA Visa, based on retirement, for my upcoming extension shortly, Immigration does require me to produce a health insurance certificate by an approved Thai health insurance company.

This requirement is in force already since end of October 2019.

I am happy to be corrected if I am wrong????

Maybe your friend just became aware of the insurance requirement that, as @Jurg mentions, has been in effect since last year, for extensions of permission to stay  based on retirement, where the original visa was an O-A.

There's no newer requirement that I'm aware of.

Do you have any more details of this "new health insurance requirement"?
