Can you do it with an address declaration notarized from your embassy?

Too many people wising up to the fact that a single COR was sufficient for 2 licences, despite them telling you otherwise.

In Phuket anyways; If you going for both Bike & Car Licences at same time you only need one Certificate of Residence at the Transport Office as that is what I was told and that is exactly what I done, no problems at all, as a side I got the COR from Patong IMO and was process fee of 500Baht that was over 18mths ago

Well I just got my Thai driver’s license on (Sept 15, 2020) from the Department of Transportion in Phuket and they required a Health Certificate from a doctor.

The doctors certificate requirement, as with the yellow book/pink card also differs with traffic office to traffic office.  For example Sakon Nakon will not accept doctors cert from a clinic, it must be a hospital....check first.

Maybe needed for a new driving license but not needed for renewal.

Was charged 200 or 300 baht each for two of these in Phuket.  If they ask for money, ask for a receipt.  I felt like such an idiot when I found out they are supposed to be free. Lesson learned.

No you need a doc. cert as well for renewal in Phuket.  Another 200 baht to have your temperature checked.  that's it.

In Phuket in July two residence certs for bike & car, 600 baht not needed to spend at immigration. (argh)  If you are going for both Bike & Car get two Certs, since they are FREE.  Only costs is photo, which is minor.

Interesting, I don't think this guy did it in Phuket.  I got mine in July and needed Medical cert - In Phuket.  But this is october, maybe rules changed.   You can go to the lovely Department of Transportation in advance and ask.  There are clinics all over town that will take your temperature and give you a certificate for 200 baht.  Just go early, before they open to get into the queue so you have time to get the cert.  I think they cut off around 11:00am if you need to see the video.  Otherwise you have to come back the next day to see the video.  I didn't, but some people did.  Not sure what the criteria is.

You must just be talking about transferring an existing license from your home country to a thai license correct? Any new classification of license requires a medical certificate everywhere in Thailand I think.

5 year renewal.  Med cert required in Phuket.  July 2020.  Paid 200 baht to get my temperature checked.  Maybe only in Phuket.  Who knows. Just don’t pay immigration for the residence form.  It is FREE.

Did my 5 year renewal for both licenses in Phuket. No medical certificate needed. Only one COR letter needed. The cheats at immigration told me I needed 2 and tried to charge me 300 baht for each. Didn't pay when I pointed out there should be no charge.

Well done, although I wonder if it would work in Jomtien. Pay before and then it is ready after a short wait there. I would have expected to be told come back next month, had I refused to pay for it.

I was charged 300 bhat for my certificate of residence for my (car) driver’s license. Immigration officer at Phuket immigration said it would be another 300 baht if I needed the certificate for my motorcycle license. 600 for both. This was less than a month ago, September 15. Where does it state that these certificates are free? Anecdotal evidence from a Facebook post or personal experience more than 3 weeks old will only convince me the rules have changed.

If my memory is correct they took that from me in Jomtiem and gave me a different one to fill in. It also certainly does not include all the possible reasons for needing a COR.

This is the thing.. there is no "correct form" as it depends on the "receipient" yes, a big hu ha over nothing again as usual..

would e nice to downlowd in .doc format and fill it out just changing the needed everytime... but ohh no...

* The forms/flavour could change even if you took some from the office!

* Download from the Goverment website = ahhh no update ha ha

That means they are confirming they do not beleive in their own Dr's ... what a sad bunch... well if you look at the whole larger picture:

TM6, TM30, 90Day, Chanotte, Lease agreement, Address on the back of current licences and what ever else.. non of these are

beleivable?  <deleted> a joke it all is!

selling a vehicle one needs C of R.....I know as i have done it in June this year !!!!!

Getting a tax ID too. Even getting a new blue or green vehicle book needs one... or did for me in Jomtiem. Getting a bank account? To supply a form with just the options for licence renewal or vehicle selling/buying is short sighted and dopey.

The residence certificate is supposed to be free.  I looked on the Phuket Volunteer Website (which is pretty good), but they do not quote prices.  I was told when I first got to Phuket to always ask immigration for a receipt, that way you you are guaranteed that you will be paying the services correctly.  (Did you get a receipt? )  That is why I felt like an idiot when I read a story in the Phuket News about three weeks later about people being charged incorrectly for residence certificate.

In my defense, if there is such a thing, I was stressed out because my license had expired and they just opened up the transportation office in July after lockdown.   I looked for the Phuket News article, and could not find the one from August but I found one from 2018.  I am pretty sure nothing has changed.

https://www.thephuketnews.com/phuket-immigration-chief-calls-on-expats-to-report-wrongful-requests-for-fees-65831.php

Hope that helps.  At least you only got clipped for 300, I got clipped for 600 baht.  ????  That and 200 baht to get my temperature checked could have bought me a case of Singha.  ????

“Our officers should only ask for fees from aliens (sic) as declared in the law.“

Maybe this paragraph from the article is their justification on charging for certificate of residence???

If you are an alien you will be charged. Of course that begs the question who, other than aliens, goes to the immigration office asking for the certificate of residency.

I agree that the article makes it sound like the certificate is free.

I need one of these (Certificate of Residency) as well.  Will need one in BKK. What supporting documentation do you need to take? Does anyone have a concise list of docs required? I am on a work permit and renting - no Thai partner, no property I own.

This is off the Phuket Immigration Volunteer website.  Please note disclaimer.  They also have a disclaimer somewhere else on the website that information may vary from office to office.  But this is a good guideline.

In Phuket you don't need a copy of your lease, landlords ID and bluebook...  But you do need that if you are updating your address registration.  Address must be up-to-date before you get the residence cert.

Hope this helps.

Ask for a receipt.   If it's legit then you will get one.  But, there is a fine line on pissing off the IO for 300 baht.   Your call.

Jomtien have always (well for a very long time anyhow) charged you for it.

When I went 2 months ago it was still 300 baht but someone I spoke to the other day said it cost him 500 the other week - just for the one.

Anybody else been in the last 2 weeks or so?

Yes I went there about 2 weeks ago to help a friend getting the COR. Still 300Thb... Done in 20 mins
