I'm interested in purchasing an Amazon Firestick to access UK TV using a VPN app such as PrivateVPN. Anyone with experience of using a Firestick to do this? Concerned that it will work ok but streaming speed will be reduced to a crawl.

You will be better off using an IPTV service, the BBC have worked out how to detect and block VPNs accessing iPlayer. You will also have access to more premium TV services too.

Suggest doing a google search**, then monitor similar user forums to see how they deal with disovery/blocking of VPN provider issues:

**Caution:

"...our company came into existence after we struggled to find a service that would consistently guarantee access to all our favourite UK services or websites. That’s why we set up this part-time expat branded company in order to make money off you and continue to fund our lifestyle"

When doing your web search you'll more than likely come across a ton of 'expat' websites offering their very own paid 'Expat VPN' solution. These are potential scammers or unnecessary middlemen probably selling on a rebadged service and can't/won't help with customer service issues.

I Highly recommend you first seek out forums that focus just on your interest to see what issues similar users have faced and what avenues might be available to solve them when they crop up.

The best way to do this is to use a VPN Router.  Every device connected to that router will be secured through the VPN.

Service Provider <--->  VPN Router  <---> Phones, Computers, Fire Stick....

Some providers (like ExpressVPN) will sell you a router with their software pre-installed, but you can also buy your own and install the software.

This page explains everything....
