Red Bull Boss: Thai media reports he is in Dubai

Thai media Daily News reported from unnamed sources that wanted fugitive Vorayuth Yoovidhya or "Red Bull Boss" is in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

A well known politician who they did not name appears to have offered assistance.

Boss is wanted for dragging and killing a police sergeant under the wheels of his Ferrari in the Thong Lo area of Bangkok in September, 2012 and for cocaine use.

Royal Thai Police spokesman Pol Maj-Gen Yingyot Thepjamnong said this was news to him.

He said the RTP has not received any information from the 194 countries that are members of Interpol after a Red Notice was issued a couple of weeks ago.

The Maj-Gen said that he would look into it and as soon as any information is forthcoming he will announce it.

Daily News said that Boss had been spotted in recent years in London, Singapore and Hong Kong. But since the beginning of the pandemic there had been no record of him having entered or left those countries.

They said their source indicated that he had been in Dubai "for some time".

The pandemic and increasing pressure from journalists looking for the heir to the drinks fortune has forced Boss to stay put for now, they speculated.

The case against Boss has rumbled on for years. This year there was a huge outcry in Thailand after charges were dropped prompting an inquiry and reinstatement of two charges.

Does Dubai have an extradition treaty with Thailand or not.  Not sure they do if Thaksin is still there under the watchful eye of the Emirates.

...thumbing his nose while flipping-off the Thai judiciary, and government, and the public - and laughing, laughing, laughing right up to the day that the statues of limitation expire at which time he'll return to mother Thailand to the open arms and apologetic embraces of the Thai elites while grinning like an idiot.

Remember when they could drill down to the very cow that had mad cow disease from some beef mince? If they really wanted to find him, they could.

A well known politician ? An infamous Thai politician residing in Dubai comes to mind

Or did the well known politician assist the press to get the information?

Is he really on the Interpol Red List? I couldn't find him.

Give a little bounty, then the paparazzies will find him in a few days, with photo evidence.

They can find people.

But maybe there is to big brown envelopes, so somebody do not want to catch him.

With pleasure i give a 100 bath to help to the bounty.

Apparently not, according to Interpol. If he was, he would be on the list

Don't forget he will become a monk for 2 days to make merit and cleansing.

Finding him is not really a problem for Thailand, the problem is what to do with him, especially

after he was cleared of committing a crime!

Police to contact UAE embassy after reports fugitive Vorayuth lives in Dubai

By THE NATION

The Thai police will send a letter to the embassy of the United Arab Emirates inquiring about the whereabouts of Vorayuth “Boss” Yoovidhya, a fugitive in a 2012 hit-and-run case, assistant National Police chief Pol General Jaruwat Waisaya said on Sunday.

The letter will be sent by the Foreign Affairs Division of the Royal Thai Police.

There were reports recently that Vorayuth was residing in Dubai in the UAE after global travel was restricted by the Covid-19 outbreak.

“We want to confirm with the local authorities whether he is in the UAE or not. If he is, we will coordinate with them to extradite him to Thailand so he can face trial,” he added.

The International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) on October 2 issued a red notice to member countries to track down Vorayuth, after the Office of the Attorney-General announced in September that prosecutors had decided to indict Vorayuth on charges of using cocaine and reckless driving causing death.

Vorayuth, the scion of a billionaire family, hit the headlines earlier when CNN reported in August that prosecutors had dropped the last charge against him in the hit-and-run case that killed a policeman riding a bike eight years ago.

An Interpol red notice means if Vorayuth enters countries that are members of Interpol, they will alert the Royal Thai Police of his location. However, the notice has no mandatory condition, as the decision to notify Thai authorities depends on the country’s discretion.

United Arab Emirates is one of 194 Interpol member countries.

If they were to arrest him then he could blow the the lid on a few people in that police station so I'm not sure they want him to come back

In days of yore we would have had Chalerm, he of the ear medicine, giving us a clue by indicating the initials of this 'well known politician'. Is there no-one around to take up his mantle? I miss those times.........

Ridiculous people! Send a letter? You send a delegation to the UAE Embassy, and with a confirmation that he is living in UAE also send a delegation to apprehend him in cooperation with the UAE authorities. It´s really sad when ordinary people like me have to tell you how to do your work, boys.

The red notice is a joke Thailand only has extradition treaties with 14 countries. USA, UK, Canada, China, Belgium, Philippines, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, South Korea, Bangladesh, Fiji and Australia. In other words Boss can live freely in over 180 other countries without fear of arrest!
