polpott
Word of warning. Having the vaccine doesn't guarantee that you are fully immune. I have had a course of vaccines for Hep B twice now and the follow up antibody test has revealed that I'm still not adequately covered. I would think that a certificate for positive Covid antibodies will be the gold standard for travellers, not just the certificate to say you have had the vaccine.

Caldera
Do we even know if this vaccine (or any other vaccine against Covid, for that matter) actually WORKS? Being able to produce and distribute it at scale is all very well, but unless I've missed something, none of the vaccines in development have been proven to be "effective enough" yet.

I assume it's just like the regular flu vaccine. Not all develop anti bodies and one vaccine does not guarantee protection against all types/strains of flu. Normally i never get the yearly flu vaccine, but this year I will, just so that I have a smaller risk of getting flu in case I get covid 19. MR1888
Ive been PCR tested every time I go to work offshore for the last 6 months and have also had the antibodies test that showed I’d caught the virus at some point, even though I’ve no idea when that was. For me to ever go back to Thailand, it’s highly likely that its going to be mandatory for me to take a fast tracked potentially unsafe vaccine to protect me against a virus that does me no harm whatsoever When I visit Pattaya, the virus does concern me slightly, but it’s not Covid I’m worried about catching

herfiehandbag
Thailand partnering with AstraZeneca makes sound commercial sense. connda
At least it's not mRNA, however, make me wonder how many Thais and expats will become the long-term lab rats for the "experimental vaccine?" If I remember right, AZ had to pause their trails recently. One of the lab rats volunteer had an extreme adverse reaction. "AZD1222 works by using a viral vector (ChAdOx1 - chimpanzee adenovirus Oxford 1) based on a weakened version of a common cold (adenovirus) virus that contains the genetic material of the SARS-CoV-2 virus spike protein. After vaccination, the surface spike protein is produced, priming the immune system to attack the virus if it later infects the body, protecting it against COVID-19." AZ and Moderna. Big money being made here. Huge. Money loves a captive audience. And as the governments of the world embrace quasi-totalitarian corporatism, the whole world becomes the capitalist's oyster. ourmanflint
On the face of it this is very good news for Thailand, but like all things in Thailand, probably not what it seems. So just where is this vaccine supposed to be made? There is the GPO factory in Saraburi which was planned in 2007 supposed to open in 2013, but delayed until 2017 and is capable of producing 2 million doses of vaccine per year. So if that is the govt plan, then it is going to take quite a while to vaccinate even half the population. Wonder who will be first in line?
