Utter drivel from Yutthasak, one of the least talented, and least intelligent men in tourism, the world over.    The longer they wait, the harder it will be to restore the industry. People h

Scientists all over the world expect that a mass vaccination can start at the end of the 2nd/beginning of the 3rd quarter 2021. Then Thailand will allow only vaccinated tourist to come to Thailand. I think the TAT has to expect their worst case scenario. And then they have a lot of luck to reach the expected numbers.

* Domestic tourists will spend between 400 billion and 500 billion

Not where I live they won't!

There is a small waterfall in part of the national park 10 minutes from my home. We haven't been in a while but went to have a coffee there last Sunday. As expected not really as busy as pre-covid, but had a steady turnout of Thai visitors to the coffee shop which is also the entrance to the falls. I have only ever seen 1 foreigner there over the years, it's not a huge tourist area.

This place has an entrance fee with the dreaded dual pricing (Thai 50 Baht, Foreigners 100 Baht). As the wife and I sat sipping our beverage, we noticed many Thai doing an about turn when asked for the entry fee, several muttering 'waste of money' and leaving. I did a rough count after that and easily more then 70% of possible customers refused to pay 50 Baht and left. According to their group tshirts, some had come quite far on their trip to be met with an unwelcome antry fee. In a group of 12 or so from Ayuthaya about half went in the others bought more coffee.

One larger lady was heard to say '50 Baht! That's another portion of French Fries'!

Incidentally the park employees all live in our village so, like other locals, including me, there is no entry fee.

Might happen if they open up without all kind of restrictions.

Otherwise, not a chance.

Personally I could accept a mandatory vaccine or show some negative test before arrival.

Quarantine, apps and mandatory masks all over is a no go on my vacation.

I wouldn't mind masks in public transport or malls even if there is no peer reviewed studies that actually show masks are effective against covid 19.

It will be a small sacrifice to wear a mask at certain places, but no way I'm accepting it all over.

Then I wouldn't feel like I'm on a vacation.

Time will tell what Thailand decides.

I hope I can return in July because I miss Thailand, the food, beaches, weather, walking streets, people we gotten to know over the last 10 years and so on.

Covid 19 sucks big time.

Early in 2021 vaccines and rapid tests kits will be upon us and we should see places and things opening fast. If somebody has been vaccinated in their home country and has a card to prove this, and is given a rapid covid test upon arrival, gets a negative test result, then out the door they go on their way. I understand vaccines and rapid tests may not be 100% reliable but that's as good as it's going to get for the time being. It's either open up with the vaccines and rapid tests, or wait for a fairy with a magic wand make the big bad virus vanish, or sit back and watch every country's economies crumble and societies break down.

I wake up every morning with anticipation of what stupidity will be announced by government officials.  Rarely am I disappointed.

Tomorrow it´s time to announce the new chief.

Someone’s been watching Field of Dreams.

It appears that he had a cannabis induced dream. The more he speaks the less people will behave what he says.

I assume this forcast was made after the revenue adjustments prompted by the slightly disappointing performance of the Special Visa scheme for Chinese tourists?

Why would tourists come when majority of the tourism businesses have shut down?

With such projected revenue how about a fifth submarine purchase.

Well, well, well, I see they have started the partying already with the taking of some LSD.  Mind altering substances to help them see the future.

Tell ya what: If actual figures reach 1 trillion, I will leave forever and you can have my condo

If it doesn't, you, Mr TAT, and your entire staff quit and try to find an honest living

Deal?

It's probably 1.5 Trillion Zimbabwean dollars, but never mind...

I am flabbergasted.........

Consequent action: First kill tourism industry by blocking travel and then hoping the remainings do a big business. He should hire rather at Dreamworlds.

Comon guys, he did his job for now, give him a break. Next year anyway nobody will remember what has been said.
