It most certainly is ... "Offerings" is about the biggest, non-producing post on my company's expense account.

I say you are not ready.

Well not yet anyway.

You will be ready when you have researched what businesses are open to you (you are actually allowed to take part in), what businesses are LIKELY to make money.

Locations, staff, materials and other resources etc.

The best advice is spend a lot of time thinking about what you want to do, where you want to live, how much money you can afford to invest (how much money you can afford to loose) ..... keep going until the list of things run to several pages.

Then seek out the help of a professional company working with foreigners, Sunbelt Asia is the obvious example, but there are others.

Well, its coming up to the rainy season so maybe clear plastic umbrellas and waterproof mobile phone covers will be good sellers so people can continue riding motorbikes 'safely'.

Generally, Wats are profitable. There are plenty that are barely getting by though... despite low maintainence costs and tax free status.

As for mainstream businesses... finance. It's hard to beat 1.25-3% per month returns where you have no inventory cost, no spoilage, and your product is always in demand no matter how good or bad the economy is.

What about Forestry Palm oil, Eucalyptus, Rubber Tree's

They require a fair amount of land (and a Thai wife to own it) and are really a long term project for any reasonable return.

Animals or fish are a possibility but you rally need to know what you are doing and if the market is good the returns are good but markets can fall with an oversupply. The other problem with fish and animals is that you need good reliable staff to look after them if you want to go away.

Resorts were a good business but for some reason a lot of Thais see a good business running and a lot copy it. There was 1 where I live in Central Thailand and now there are 6 and none make money full time.
