Thammanat's wife handed job in PM’s Secretariat

The wife of Deputy Agriculture Minister Thammanat Prompao has been handed a job in the Secretariat of the Prime Minister in a move that has triggered accusations of nepotism.

 

Government spokesperson Traisuree Taisaranakul said the Cabinet had agreed to give Thanaphon Siwirat, a former beauty queen, a position in the office effective from Tuesday.

 

Sirawat has frequently been spotted accompanying Thammanat on his official duties.

 

The move has once again sparked allegations of nepotism in government, especially from pro-democracy netizens.

 

Thammanat has managed to keep his job as deputy agriculture minister despite records that show he served four years in an Australian jail for heroin smuggling in the 1990s. His case has prompted questions about the transparency of Prayut Chan-o-cha’s government.

Even with tens of thousands on the streets almost daily now, denouncing the corruption and nepotism of the ruling gang, this gang does not change it's behaviour at all. Quite in the opposite, day by day they enjoy and increase their blatant cronyism even more and more.

 

They don't care, and they obviously feel very safe, very strong and very protected. This shows how strong the ties within the elite and the army really are.

 

Is there any stronger evidence needed to prove that everything they say about compromise and reconciliation is not more than a bad joke?

 

Looks like she is very grateful and he very soon to be relieved no one will ever notice this nepotism malarkey just all perfectly normal in the smooth running of this government   ????

I am just surprised that someone thinks this is 'news'. It is a daily occurrence in this nepotitistic, cronyistic land.

 

Unfortunately, 60% or more of this country cannot see that the HISO are 'extracting the michael' out of them, as they prostrate themselves before a military dictatorship.

Heard of jobs for the boys, now they are including the girls.

One can only wonder why, but that is Prayut all along, the nepotism kid.

It is not nepotism.   She got the job because she is pretty and quick to comply comply comply.  Have an open mind.

Nice heartwarming story of a convicted drug smuggler who despite all the odds in a country where the death penalty exists for trafficking saw the error of his ways and finally makes good and through hard work makes his way to the upper levels of Government.

They feel safe because they ARE safe. Until a lot more people stand up to them in meaningful ways, they ain't going anywhere.

Don Thammanat; the Don of Don's. Only a true high level boss could do this openly without fear of reprisal fom the public.

 

Then again, i suppose getting his wife a job isn't half as dangerous as what he used to get up to 'Down Under'.
