Phuket health officials break silence on Dutch COVID case

PHUKET:-- Phuket health officials today (Wednesday) publicly recognised the 38-year-old Dutch national confirmed as infected with COVID-19 in Phuket, saying that the man arrived on the island after being infected in his home country.

Progressive Movement leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit said yellow-shirt protesters who mobbed a car in Nakhon Si Thammarat on Wednesday were acting in the mistaken belief that he was inside. Posting on Facebook, Thanathorn expressed concern for the victims, who he said were ordinary people unrelated to him.

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's economy has passed its lowest point and is expected to contract less than previously expected this year due to a recovery in consumption, senior officials said.

South Korean soldier found with COVID-19 after return from Thailand

A South Korean military officer, who participated in the planning of the Cobra Gold military exercise in Thailand’s eastern province of Rayong, was found to be infected with COVID-19 upon his return to South Korea, Dr. Walairat Chaifoo, director of the Epidemiology Division of the Diseases Control Department, told the media today (Wednesday).

Yachts contacting Immigration Bureau to allow passengers to visit Thailand

BANGKOK (NNT) - Since November 1st, 2020, the government has eased travel restrictions by allowing cruise ships and yachts to enter Thailand. The Immigration Bureau reports that around 10 yacht operators have contacted Thai authorities to allow their passengers to disembark. However, they have to undergo strict screening similar to airport procedures.

National parks report financial loss from COVID-19

BANGKOK (NNT) - National parks are among places affected by an absence of tourists due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation has reported some 900 million baht in loss in revenue at national parks nationwide from October 2019 to September 2020.
