snoop1130
Thai troops quarantined after meeting with infected South Korea soldier By The Nation The Army has ordered 177 officers into home quarantine after they attended a meeting in Rayong with a South Korean soldier who tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday. The November 2-6 meeting was held in Ban Chang district to plan next year’s Cobra Gold military exercise and was joined by officers from 10 countries. The unnamed Korean soldier arrived in Thailand on October 17, spent two weeks at an alternative quarantine hotel in Bangkok and then travelled to Rayong’s Bang Chan district for the meeting. He tested positive after returning to South Korea on Sunday. Army spokesman Santipong Thampiya said the 177 Thai officers had been sent home for 14 days of quarantine. Tests on 129 of the officers had come back negative, with 48 still waiting for their results, he added. Popular Post ThailandRyan
Why are they being quarantined at home if they have tested negative? Why not place them in a Hospital Isolation ward like they did to the Thai/French ladies husband and son who were negative. Double standard here. 2

Wait, a minute your not implying the Thai government will not pay for it's own citizens are you? Damned that's pretty ballsy of them, after all along they have said they would pay for Thai's...... 1
uncle_tom
Most recent Covid analysis in the UK shows that in many urban areas the infection rate had peaked and was tumbling before the second round of restrictions was put in place. There's a bit of a bow wave radiating out into the suburbs, but the urban data is very encouraging, it really does look as though we are getting past the worst of this crisis now. Many other countries also appear to be well on course to becoming 'post-Covid' But where does this leave the LoS - where it hasn't really started yet? Are they going to be messing around with quarantine and a totally trashed tourist industry for years - or will they tire of trying to keep it at bay?
Enoon
The S.Korean officer, and the rest of the foreign officers who attended the conference, were quarantined, tested and cleared in Thailand, by the Thai State, before they mixed with the Thai officers. Were the Thai officers tested and cleared before attending? Were the staff at the conference hotel? S. Korean government should be lodging a formal complaint with the Thai government about the repeated assertions/insinuations, in Thailands media, that the S.Korean officer, and by implication the S.Korean government, he and it alone, must be responsible. Atrocious diplomacy, thoroughly loathsome behaviour. Who would want such people as Allies? Edited November 12, 2020 by Enoon

John Drake
I seem to remember a lot of public outrage and negative comments from politicians when US soldiers were allowed into the country for exercises a few months ago. And, now, were does the Covid contact come from? One of the countries Thailand is always touting as superior and a possible candidate for a travel bubble and STV status. Funny. Atrocious diplomacy, thoroughly loathsome behaviour. Who would want such people as Allies? Calm down. The Thais are doing an excellent job controlling COVID-19 as the numbers prove. A case was found, 177 people who was in contact with have been immediately put in quarantine. Exactly the right way to go about it. And everyone will be tested twice. Compare that to when Trump and Johnson tested positive. High profile cases and the only tracing was done by the media and people they had contact with were not put into quarantine or tested. Now look at the results, millions infected and hundreds of thousands dead and a lot more to come versus a handful of cases and no deaths for six months. Trying to turn it into a bitchy political tit for tat ignores the reality and does nothing to solve the covid problem which costs lives and has destroyed millions of livelihoods. Currently I would prefer to have the disciplined Thais as allies than a lot of other places who can’t be told what to do. Cake Monster
What a total Farce ! Sending all these Soldiers to a meeting for something that is not due yet for another Year. 177 Soldiers sent on a Jolly down to Rayong, and now have to be Quarantined at Home. Was the Cobra Gold War game actually being held for so many Squaddies to be at a single meeting, and now the expense of Quarantine, all be it at their Homes.
