And what about the FIT travellers who dont book through Chinese travel agents?

Like most have for ten years?

???? are you seriously expecting me to simply accept MOST Chinese, for the last 10 years (not sure where you got your time frame from) travel without booking with an agent just because you made it up?
Answer honestly, do you see more Chinese doing their own thing or more groups following someone around carrying a stick with a flag on it? Good grief man

The c-19 vaccine will mess with your DNA/RNA.

I will never take it!

My wife will wait a couple of years after the first release to see what side effects there will be..

It does not make sense why the baht continues to strengthen....something is afoot.

The CV vaccine is a long way away from being useful on a large scale.

I honestly think it’s the Chinese that are investing in Thailand with the help of the current administration...nothing else adds up, especially in light of the domestic issues that the country is facing!

In Thailand where? In the tax coffers, certainly not in the pockets of the workers. 300 baht a day for a maid while the CHINESE OWNED HOTEL with all you can ram down your throat buffets get the bulk of it. Package deals bought in China for Chinese owned hotels hardly says to me most of the money stays in Thailand but I may be wrong.

And how does  that compare to the destination of  profit from most "Corporate Multi national" enterprises overall? The Hotel business is (has been) an agent in the global proliferation of selling part of the concept of

glorious  incurred  debt .

Scalping on the "credit" has been the mainstay of  tourism. That it has  involved  large  numbers of  poorly paid or  marginal  associate  business is only  now becoming a point of concern. To Governments? Not  really. More of a  concern to the  lobbyists  to  Governments  because  the  underbelly of  that sector is badly damaged in an immediate sense. There is some evidence in the  reaction by  Governments  to  placate  major  interests by infusions and policies which have little  assistance  to the majority of unemployed  or  furloughed.

Incrementally  it will  continue to impact on Governments and any  intelligent  reaction  to coping  with  the  gutting of the  easy  money economies.

"Covid-19" may have been the  agent to precipitate an inconvenient consideration of the fact there as to be  a limit even if  by  comparison to other  factors  of  mortality to the  human race is as yet relatively small it is the global non selective impact which has caused  fear due to the fact that unlike "wars somewhere else" the  home town enemy is potentially  present.

Sadly  the vaccine weapon against the enemy  will probably  become a weapon in itself by being used  to hold societies  to ransom.

You are correct. This Country is being sold to the Chinese right now. They are most probably behind the strengthening of the Baht. It's insane how that thing has been gaining in value just the last 3 days. I mean...<deleted> is going on here???

The vaccines are in development stage and seem to be 90%, at best, effective. The adverse risk scared Government of Thailand is unlikely to open its doors to tourists quickly even after the vaccine is released. Most of Thailand's population would have to be vaccinated before that could be considered safe.

No doubt a vaccine requirement will be part of the already long list to enjoy LOS

To be realistic, I think it might take up to another year from now before vaccine distribution is working up to a safe level – vaccine out early 2021 plus at least 6 month duration before enough mass vaccinations are done – i.e. safe enough to reopen borders without a number of restrictions that might make tourists decide to either stay home, or choose nearby easy-access destinations within their own bubble...????

Yup. Wont be a Thailand left by then. The current administration best accept that covid is already in the country.  Has the population been tested?  Didnt think so. Unlike other asian countries they test and isolate. Wonder how a korean solder got covid after being in Thailand 1 month.  Vaccine and a weaker baht might give tourists an incentive to return.  Expats thats spent millions of baht  have been thrown to the curb. Many will now find new welcoming countries that dont look down on them.

However, the numbers are here on TV so go and read them.

It appears that the USA may well close down for up to six weeks in  January.... that will be devastating to their economy again and will certainly not help the 11.5% of imports that they buy from Thailand.

strange indeed this ever strengthening Baht.

The usa wont close down.  Until 20 January nothing will be done to control the virus.  The Biden administration has plans to suppress the virus with a mask mandate (dont have now) and vaccine rollout.  Lets hope

My dearest friend school days. His a real nerd. But so smart. He read this and laughed. He is a freelance finance and stocks guru. Has no interest in Thailand. This is absurd. Fake rubbish. They are learning from the CCP.

Distributing the vaccine in 'very hot' countries presents a far greater logistical problem -- especially when the population is spread as in Thailand.

Wonder what price the vaccine is going to be?

Worldwide it's going to be issued free.

But...TIT.

Nothing is free in Thailand.

Worldwide it'll be paid for by the taxpayers so everyone pays through the nose wether they get the vaccine or not.Governments around the world are being held to ransom by big pharma and the tax payer is the one who pays.and look at all those top doctors with connections with the WHO.They will reap what they sow!As always.

Even with a vaccine, tourism will return slowly. The low and middle income people who make up 96% of the people who travel here these days, are strapped.

And major changes need to be made, if Thailand wants to continue to continue to enjoy the cash cow of tourism. Travelers these days simply have too many choices. Creativity is required. Progress needs to be made. Thailand cannot continue to be one of the least progressive nations on earth, and expect foreigners to tolerate that degree of ignorance. These seeds were planted over a decade ago. The hapless army has accelerated the process dramatically. If Thailand had a qualified health minister, and a slightly intelligent tourism minister, they would stop this nonsense, and realize no tourism program requiring quarantine will ever work. Period. And even without quarantine, I don't expect arrivals to top 5 million in the next three or four years. And it will never get back to even 25 or 30 million in our lifetimes. Thailand blew it on so many levels.

You post sound observations...on several occasions. My hope is that those you mention  that make the confusing decisions   read these comments to guage the foreign sentiment.  I  think a COVID test, vaccine, minimal health certificate and NO  quarantine is SAFE ENOUGH  to travel to Thailand or any other country soon

Getting covid can mess with your dna or worse yet kill it.  In the USA 247,000 probally wish they had that choice

You make a number of valid points but you are assuming the efficacy numbers are valid. This vaccine requires a -70°F cold chain which will be virtually impossible in Thailand. Not to mention the risks associated with an RNA vaccine. But let's suppose the vaccine is everything it's touted to be and Thailand overcomes the cold chain difficulties, it won't even be available for a year or more and then a whole nation has to be vaccinated.

Those who continue to hold out for tourism to return to it's pre-Covid levels will bleed to death on false hope.

Have you not ever heard of dry ice?  Co2   Common and cheap. Used on airplanes to keep the food at proper temperature.

OK...this is what it states:"SARS-CoV-2 in the Vero cell cultures were confluent 3 days after the first blind passage of the sample. Coronavirus was confirmed with spherical particle having a fringe reminiscent of crown on transmission electron microscopy. Phylogenetic analyses of whole genome sequences showed that it clustered with other SARS-CoV-2 reported from Wuhan."

Notice how they say "confluent" which means "merging" because that's how far they got.

It also states that "it clustered with other SARS-CoV-2 reported from Wuhan." (Not entirely isolated, BIG DIFFERENCE)

Regardless what they call this thing it is statistically less deadly than pneumonia and to use it to destroy the economies of entire nations is by far more damaging than this flu virus.

Don't believe the hype.

Probably in Bangkok but Thailand is a very rural country where resources drop off quickly leaving Bangkok. It's likely an irrelevant argument, the vaccine is unlikely to meet it's touted claims anyway. In either case, there will be months if not years to figure it out before the Pfizer vaccine is even available.

In a time where Lazada and Shopee deliver nationwide in a few days ... no problem

https://thaidryice.com/2018/03/03/dry-ice/

A couple of boxes filled with the CO2 ice filled in Bangkok and delivered to all hospitals in Thailand within 2 days should not be very hard to do . Thailand isn't the middle of the desert anymore . Yes , some places on the world it is certainly more difficult , because long way from hospitals ( or none ) , but not Thailand .

Sure it does take some planning , but nothing extremely difficult to overcome .

The -70c is for the Pfizer vaccine , the others like AstraZeneca we do not know the rules there .

COVID-19 and the vaccination problem.

If you vaccinate against a certain virus strain, it can be that the patient becomes more susceptible to it against another virus strain (virus interference). A study published in January 2020 in the journal Vaccine concluded from data from more than 6,000 patients that influenza vaccination significantly increases the risk of other respiratory diseases. (2) Another study has shown that, for example, after the flu vaccination, the risk of contracting a corona virus infection is increased by 36%. In Italy, 50% of the population were vaccinated against the flu in November 2019. At the beginning of 2020, up to 10,000 people died from Covid-19 every day (3) The Spanish flu from 1918 to 1920, in which 40 to 50 million people died, should also be considered in connection with vaccinations. So there were two waves of vaccinations back then

Additional I would be careful, because PCR tests might show a positive result after vaccination.

I am sure you have all the answers but studies show that even a -5°C requirement is problematic for many parts of the world. The experts say, Hopes for the developing world rest with other pharmaceutical companies that are developing protein-based vaccines that can be distributed at warmer temperatures. This may be the only way that billions of people across the world are vaccinated. Maybe you should go tell the experts that you have it all figured out to save them the effort.

if you ever seen dry ice , CO2 ice , then you know that these blocks do last a long time . A simple styrofoam box , available everywhere in Thailand , filled for 2/3 with these blocks will prob take 2 weeks to evaporate . Plenty of time to get to 1 of your local hospitals .

If that isnt enough ...

Actually, Bidens chosen health guru (scientist) is calling for a six to eight week lockdown.

Wrong. He is only one adviser of a whole team. Has walked back that as President elect Biden does not want to shut down the economy.  Watch cnn. Not fox please.  Anything will be better than now

Your entitled to your own opinion but not your own facts. The fact is, epidemiologist Michael Osterholm, one of Joe Bibens top Covid-19 Advisory board members, is currently calling for a four to six week lockdown. Maybe in fact, you should try a new news source as clearly, CNN isn't serving you wisely. Or, just keep repeating the propaganda long enough and many will believe you.

They may order businesses to close, but a new lockdown will not work. People are not going to shut themselves in again.  Especially after watching the crowds on election night in the Liberal Democrat, cities. Again, "do as I say, not as I do". The  Socialist Democrat motto.
