Many times I've read posts re the heading.

Does the 'bank must reverse the CC transaction' on customers request (or however it works) apply to all cards /all issuing banks, apply regardless of country of issue of the card? Visa/mastercard?

Does it apply to money paid to buy tickets on TG?

Obviously I don't know how it works. Would appreciate some education on this , thanks.

My reason to get more details on this is TG. I'm in Australia, they seem to be offering good prices (not today - into the future) on flights Sydney through to Chiang Mai (TG and Smile), total around AUD650  (14,261Baht) (and same return), In normal times there are sometimes better prices around but AUD650/14,262Baht one way total is not too bad. Certainly better than the repat. flight fares,

But of course there are currently complications re 14/10 days quarantine, COE etc.

When entry & quarantine become less complex maybe there will be more travelers and therefore less chance of cancellation. And of course what will their policies be about distancing on the aircraft.

We wait and see.

It was on the news that they sold 34 planes about two weeks ago. It doesn't look good for them.

I paid my flight with AMEX to travel agency. Due to pandemic situation I rebooked thru Thai airways.

Than my return flight was canceled by Thai airways.

Amex denied, because insuance of travel agency must cover.

Travel agency denied, because Thai airways rebooked.

Thai airways denied, because of Covid-19 situation.

Now Thai airways is bankrupt, total loss about 50000 THB. Smooth as silk

Might I suggest that this thread be retitled

Pay for all flights by credit card to ensure can get your money back if flight cancelled

I realise TG is in a particularly bad place now but I would never buy anything expensive on any other than a Credit Card...NOT Debit Card

The CC companies especially if affiliated to Visa / MasterCard, are required to investigate claims made by cardholders. Whilst your claim is under investigation, they must not charge you interest on the amount.

Also, if you buy by CC, they are attempting to get money out of you....if by DC, you are attempting to get your own money back - I know which I prefer! ????

Amex issued in which country?  I contested two different bookings with Amex Travel made with USA issued card and they honored both. The annual fee for the USA issued card is 550usd so maybe that's why.  I told them I tried to call them but their phones were crashed at the start of pandemic.  On one booking they said British Airways will give you a voucher.  I told them you caused the problem not British Airways I dont want a voucher I want a refund.  They asked when I called and from what number.  A week later they called and said they found the record of my calls and have me a refund.

Similar case with Expedia.  Their phones were crashed and I got a refund.  If I remember correctly they also wanted the phone number I called from and when and checked it.

Iberia did the same thing.  I had sent them a message to cancel in WhatsApp because the phones were crashed.  They looked up the WhatsApp message and gave me a refund.
