If everyone is getting ripped of why are western companies increasing their profits when they manufacture in China, big names like BMW, Mercedes, Apple, Ford, etc. nobody rips off companies like these.

You can't take down a popular political system if it works, if it doesn't it takes itself down (soviet socialist republic anyone?). Trump is doing his best to destroy democracy, such as it is in America, from within with help from his poorly educated supporters. More money for an education system which doesn't seem to work (bottom of the PISA ratings) and less for weapons might be a start.

You didn't read the paper!  here.  Though it may have circulated in Italy as early as September, they suggest it was international, not just Italy, and referecne evidence of many early cases in Wuhan (in China). They say:

I have read it and there is NO EVIDENCE that it comes from China. In China the outbreak comes first in december. And they told it the WHO but don't know what seekness it was.

What does all this mean?  China's CCP may have been covering it up longer than we thought!

The Australian proposal was a stupid one. Why asked for another organization outside of the WHO to be in charge of the investigation? And why mention China in the proposal? However, you raise an interesting issue.

We all agree that China  messed up at the beginning, but how would other countries have handled it? Let's imagine the first outburst occured in L.A. instead of Wuhan (conurbations are around the same size). Would a total lockdown and total isolation of the city have occured early enough (or occured at all)? Or would Trump have declared that it was just another flu, and the most frantic China bashers (who are also anti-lockdown, anti-masks, etc...) argued than it was infringing their essential rights?

I am sure that only a few countries can locked up their countries like china done it. In the most countries to much idiots would run in the streets without masks to fight for their rights of freedom and would spread the virus to others.

One of the major effects of any epidemic/pandemic is fear and that often leads to panic.   People start doing strange things when they deal with the unknown.  Many people will simply leave the area (spreading the disease), others will hunker down, buy guns and ammo and prepare like the end is at hand.   

 

I am pretty sure there would have been a lockdown of sorts, but given the mobility of people in the US, it would not have been particularly effective.  Unfortunately, as we have seen emotions tend to win and knowledge at the beginning of an epidemic may be very limited.
