The rest of the world doesn't have enough welding equipment for a Wuhan lockdown.

You didn't read the paperhere.  Though it may have circulated in Italy as early as September, they suggest it was international, not just Italy, and referecne evidence of many early cases in Wuhan (in China). They say:

"A second study by Harvard University showed a relevant increase of hospital traffic in the Wuhan region, evaluated by satellite imagery, and COVID-19 symptoms–related queries in search engines, since autumn 2019.11 "

A recent massive study of SARS-2 genome evolution traces it back to the mother bug, which they say was several weeks earlier than first reports, likely in China.

I have read it and there is NO EVIDENCE that it comes from China. In China the outbreak comes first in december. And they told it the WHO but don't know what seekness it was.

What does all this mean?  China's CCP may have been covering it up longer than we thought!

You sounds like you're a TRUMP Fan with your (false) statements without any evidence. ????

But for sure, the Chinese are the evils (or just more clever than the rest of the world)!!!

I sound like a scientist quoting evidence from peer-reviewed scientific publications. My quote on tracing the mother CoV2 virus to China is here:   https://medicalxpress.com/news/2020-11-analysis-mother-sars-cov-genomes.html

"They found the proCoV2 (mother) virus and its initial descendants arose in China, based on the earliest mutations of proCoV2 and their locations. Furthermore, they also demonstrated  as many as six mutational differences from proCoV2 existed at the time of the first detection of COVID-19 cases in China. [..] this meant the virus must already have been infecting people several weeks before the December 2019 cases."  ...  "Asian strains founded the whole pandemic," said Kumar.

Yes very true just look at Australia's situation, one of the first country to ask for an inquiry about the virus  and where has it left us? China banned imports of Australian goods now, including cotton, beef, coal ,wine, lobsters, among other things. But go shopping and try to buy Australian made goods is impossible. Every

thing you buy is made in China, even all the cheap cars. Stop buying Chinese stuff and let them suffer.

The Australian proposal was a stupid one. Why asked for another organization outside of the WHO to be in charge of the investigation? And why mention China in the proposal? This was seen by China as a blatant politicisation of the pandemic. The World Health Assembly approved a proposal co-sponsored by the EU and China for the WHO to investigate the source of the pandemic without mentioning China at all, which Australia had no choice but to agree. And yet, Australia felt vindicated even though the proposals were quite different.

don't come back crying out the blues when you realize they stole/steal your technology and kick you out

Heard of Kuka, the German robot maker? Bought up in 2016 by Midea, the Chinese home appliance giant. Do you consider that as stealing? Maybe Hahn Automation is hoping that the Chinese would buy it up?

What a nonsens!!! The reality is that if all countries reacted like china done it, the world never had a so bad epedemie as now.

And the latest news shows that the corona virus was already in summer 2019 in Italy. So it can be that it isn't a chinese virus but a italian!!!

https://www.google.com/search?q=corona+virus+italy+summer+2019

I won't follow you about the Italian study which has been heavily criticized by other scientists.

However, you raise an interesting issue.

We all agree that China  messed up at the beginning, but how would other countries have handled it? Let's imagine the first outburst occured in L.A. instead of Wuhan (conurbations are around the same size). Would a total lockdown and total isolation of the city have occured early enough (or occured at all)? Or would Trump have declared that it was just another flu, and the most frantic China bashers (who are also anti-lockdown, anti-masks, etc...) argued than it was infringing their essential rights?

I am sure that only a few countries can locked up their countries like china done it. In the most countries to much idiots would run in the streets without masks to fight for their rights of freedom and would spread the virus to others.

One of the major effects of any epidemic/pandemic is fear and that often leads to panic.   People start doing strange things when they deal with the unknown.  Many people will simply leave the area (spreading the disease), others will hunker down, buy guns and ammo and prepare like the end is at hand.

I am pretty sure there would have been a lockdown of sorts, but given the mobility of people in the US, it would not have been particularly effective.  Unfortunately, as we have seen emotions tend to win and knowledge at the beginning of an epidemic may be very limited.
