No vaccine, no entry – the next challenge of Covid-19

It was on the BBC - the details were given by the government's chief scientific and medical officers. The companies involved have also stated the same, as have the WHO. I'm quite satisfied with the explanations I've been given and I'll be at the front of the queue when the vaccine is offered to my age group.

You choose to believe whatever you want - if you choose to believe the conspiracy theorists or general doubters over scientists and other experts, that is of course your right but don't complain if you refuse the vaccine and get the virus - that is of course, if you are alive to complain.

I find this whole conspiracy theory thing laughable - its often the same people who seem to believe every conspiracy theory going. When they are given proof or justification that their theories are false, they then claim the TV companies or newspapers are spreading fake news etc. etc. Its much the same way as when Trump asked his expert to check the election count, then fired him when he came back and said the result was correct.  That's the thing with conspiracy theorists, no matter what evidence is presented to them, they will not accept it and change their views.

The problem is that they are often spreading very dangerous information.  A couple of months ago I was talking to a close friend on Whatsapp - she'd been 'contaminated' by a conspiracy theorist and sent me a genuine looking news report that stated that the woman who was the first volunteer on the Oxford vaccine trial had died. My friend was adamant that she would not be having the vaccine because of that.  Being quite used to the lies that are being spread on the internet these days, I did a simple Google check on the story. It was a total fake, the woman was alive and kicking and appeared on a video hosted by a major UK newspaper.  There were several other reports on the fake 'death'.

When my friend presented the newspaper report and video to the conspiracy theorist, they claimed the video was a fake, performed by an actor - which is what I expected to be honest.  Its about time that spreading total lies that could be detrimental to people's health was made a crime - that might shut these story tellers up.  Some people are easily taken in by 'professional' looking reports - no matter how irrational the information may be - its bloody dangerous!

I understand better. In French, we have the same problem as we can see many official people (some of then expected to be scientist but who are not at all) to speak at TV and with self interest business conflict (they got money from Gilead company to propagate a business).

We have then 350 other scientist and doctors who signed a petition (some of them on the top level of virologist and infectious disease specialist to contradict them and show much more other scientist sources to provide an other one idea of what is COVID-19 and what to do for medicate infected people.

Deng, rabies, chikoungounia, yellow fever, leptospirosis, Ebola, Lyme disease (from ticks), plague, tuberculosis (which is coming back strong), and many others, which in facts, all cited here, are far more dangerous than COVID-19 is.
There was also a suspected SARS H1N1 crisis a few years ago, but it flopped and didn't go through ... yet they had started the same kind of propaganda.
I am not telling you that COVID is nothing, I ask you to be very lucid about the interests at stake and the methods of communication around the problem and to compare with what is comparable. To look at the figures carefully, but not only those of COVID in the media that also have an interest in highlighting one thing more than another, but to see all the figures (global mortality by country, all diseases combined) and to compare with previous years. You should, if you have a logical mind, be very surprised.
But ... you are free to believe everything without taking more time to verify the exhaustiveness of the sources and also to pay attention to other studies on the subject (especially those that are not funded by those who would have a profit in the 'history).
Admit all the same that it is imperative (and very healthy), nowadays, to be very careful about the nature and origin of information and its intermediaries, their status and their personal interest.
It is inevitable that conflicts of interest are, now more than ever, a major problem that must be taken into account.
The story will follow its course, we will talk about it again, it all ends up knowing and I'm sure you are not narrow-minded.
Given the propaganda made, I also fully understand this fear (generated) around COVID.
In addition, despite this, I am also amazed (with a very strong spread rate of r0 = 2.8 that some countries think they have so few infected / dead (such as Thailand, but also Laos and many others, who , see it as it is, very little testing).

Nonsense

The only nonsense is you doubling down on your initial ridiculous post:

However, Thailand will not, and can not, impose a unilateral vaccine mandate on it's own volition.

A sovereign nation can basically put whatever restrictions on entry it wants. Hence Australia, New Zealand etc. locking down their borders at the start of the year even though the WHO recommended against it to kow tow to China.

You even contradict yourself while calling my post "nonsense". How does the following marry up with your initial assertion?

All countries follow WHO advice to one extent or another.

I don't know how much Thailand listen to WHO, but they are looking at an option for an electronic system to register for vaccinated people.

So maybe a vaccine requirement before traveling is not that far fetched?

For those who think that Pfizer’s Vaccine is safe, read this article below.

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/12/16/health/covid-pfizer-vaccine-allergic-reaction.html

The first worker, a middle-aged woman who had no history of allergies, had an anaphylactic reaction that began 10 minutes after receiving the vaccine at Bartlett Regional Hospital in Juneau on Tuesday, a hospital official said. She experienced a rash over her face and torso, shortness of breath and an elevated heart rate.

So it's better not to get vaccinated especially if you are allergic to many things.
