Tourism Council: When the pandemic is over Thailand is the first place tourists will visit

A senior official of the Tourism Council of Thailand told the Thai media that when the pandemic is over and there is a vaccine the very first place that people will want to visit is Thailand.

Deputy at the council Pradit Watcharadanai was speaking to Daily News outlining the council's vision over the next two years that is called "Champ Thong Thiaw".

This he translated to "Thailand Champion Again Global Expat and Tourism Hub".

"What's important is how to help Thailand keep its place as champion of tourism when the pandemic is over," said Pradit.

He mentioned a new way and attracting so-called quality tourists.

"When Covid is over and there is a vaccine Thailand is the first place tourists will turn to for a visit," he claimed.

For now his measures seemed the total antithesis of attracting anyone.

He proposed seven measures that must be adhered to including fit-to-fly certificates, 14 day quarantine, zoning (keeping tourists in tourist areas only), limiting the numbers of tourists and spreading them out between operators who could handle them, insurance for visitors and operators alike and strict health regulations to be adhered to by operators.

In addition he was advocating an online platform that could handle everything from air tickets to rooms, souvenirs to food purchases and making tourists pay via "E-Money".

I think he is living in cloud cuckoo land. Aside from the restrictions, many people are going to be very broke when this is over and won't be going anywhere for a long while.

  • As soon as any tourist sees a "set of requirements" to be met.....boom, gone, toast.   Tourists want a care free holiday, not an administrative nightmare...idiots.....not a clue.

Another delusional who lives in a bubble. Yes Thailand is a great place. a place that I call home. But if the guy took off his spectacles and sees that most of the world is going into a financial meltdown, then he has no basis for his unsubstantiated optimism.

Plus the Baht remains high, another factor that will stop the 'hoards of tourists' that he is predicting coming to Thailand.

Being a glass half full person is great but not at the expense of being ridiculously stupid.

They should rebrand it from Land of Smiles to Land of Dreamers....:whistling:

Further evidence that people without a brain that is capable of understanding even basic reality, should probably keep their mouth shut.

LMAO Covid-19 is going to be around for many years just like the flu . There is no cure just vaccines when they come and more than one shot will be required . Thailand wont be the first place it will be all the family and friends that people havent had physical contact with .

These Thai are just dreaming of what they would like to happen instead of reality .

Sure to happen (NOT). But first on any itinerary should be the much mooted prison tours... so that visitors can see where they will be staying if they happen to post a negative on-line review

We do need to remember, when we comment on the dreams of the TAT bureaucrats that, when we Westerners use the word 'tourists' we mostly mean 'Western tourists', but when the bureaucrats use the word 'tourists' they mostly mean 'Chinese tourists'.

If Burma is indeed open, I'd go to the beaches there before I'd go back to Thailand's ruined and overdeveloped, once up a time great beaches.

When the pandemic is eventually over and things start to get back on track tourism wise, there's going to be an almighty eruption of greed, price gouging, fleecing the farang. We saw it happen in Phuket post tsunami, tourism there was dead for ages then when it did bounce back the Thais went berserk with greed. Once the tourism $$$$s start rolling back in it's gonna get ugly.

Guys.. these people who fly prediction's balloons every day or so about how wonderful Thailand is and will be once again are the last guys left in their government offices to justify their job they must come up with new silly predictions and exaggerated comments just so to show that that they still matter there...

I can’t wait to go now that I can buy souvenirs online from my

14 day hotel quarantine.  When I get out of quarantine I’ll probably take my souvenirs and go back home. Thank you Thailand for the experience.

Is there not one (just ONE!!!) individual in this country's entire tourism-governing network who can think with a clear head instead of constantly coming up with irrational, ludicrous blurbs regarding the imminent recovery of the tourism sector?

I am sometimes under the impression all these people do is settling on a floor mat and start chanting the mantra "Thailand will be grand again, Thailand will be hub again, Thailand will be glorious again" -- and then immediately afterwards call a press conference, presenting their feverish visions as fact.

Otherwise it CANNOT be explained how this senior officials can be so adamant that Thailand is going to be FIRST country in the whole wide world that travelers will want to visit as soon as the crisis has abated -- while at the same time citing a long list of obnoxious requirements that will only PUT OFF the vast, vast majority of potential visitors.

How can anyone be so contradictory??? I just don't understand it. Sigh.

Why are these people incapable of gathering just one single reasonable thought and build a critical assessment on it??? It drives me insane!

Is there a software problem? I just had a load of double posts from different posters appear.

If you like temples Yangon is a must visit.

Some great restaurants there too, a lot cheaper than Thailand. Kiplings at the Savoy is a personal favourite for this old souse.

Let's see how much lasting damage the government has done in its quest for isolation and all with lunatic laws on a daily basis on top it looks a very unfriendly tourist destination to me????

  • Popular Post

Thailand seems to think that it's the center of the tourist universe. Thailand's not as cheap and friendly as it used to be, xenophobia kicking in thanks to Anutin and some of his cohorts. I can see Vietnam taking away a lot of tourists from Thailand....

Chinese airports are full.

Billions of people sitting on their luggages to depart.

They even camp at the airport as they couldn't live anymore, knowing they lost their flights.

Just waiting for the green light and off they go.

Each has a 2 Million Baht to spend.

Delusional he is.  I believe that people will start to find their own countries tourist destinations and stay closer to home for a while. There will be some international travelers but they will be the ones who can pick and choose where they want to go.  Tourism for Thailand will be like it was back in the 90's I am afraid, but will in the long run make it better for visitors as there will be less pressure from the touts and scam artists as the people coming will be more aware of the games played.

A lot of negative posters, one wonders what brought them to Thailand to complain and disparage positive announcements.

One has to agree, foreign people are chomping at the bit to return to Thailand to experience the unique and special experience the Thais have to offer.
