Hi...a couple of quick questions to this forum which I find is a great source of information on various subjects, so any help and advice is very much appreciated,....

Question 1: I have a renewal of my, not sure of the correct name of it i refer to it as the retirement visa but I think officially its some kind of extension visa ...anyway its due in January which i will hopefully be renewing at Jomtien and i was wondering with the covid situation do we still just turn up as usual any day immigration is open or is there now any procedures in place such as making an appointment etc.

Question 2: I also have my driving licenses to renew later in the new year and have heard a rumor that you may have to book an appointment for a date to go to the licensing place to do the renewal procedure

Again many thanks and appreciation for the members on this forum

1. A appointment is not mandatory to apply for your extension of stay based upon retirement.

2. Many drivers license offices require a appointment.

I,very recently renewed my visa ext,at jomtien...no oppintment needed.

Its not that busy there.

I also got my drivers licence.

Had a thai lady to help me.

Its very busy, but we were lucky to get in without appintment,or long wait, but it still takes quite a few hours..

They say that appintments are best...

But i didnt have..

We were waiting at opening time..

I got ticket number 26, so went through before lunch break..

Dont go on a monday or a friday..

Too busy...

one thing I meant to ask and forgot to was:..... is there a stipulation on how many days before you can renew the year visa ext....coz i know with the 90 day reporting you have so many days before and after where you are ok to do the 90 day report......is it same for the year ext visa??...I usually like to get mine in early just in case I need any extra paperwork etc.....mine runs out on 31st of January so I would maybe do a couple of weeks before....thanks in advance

You can apply for a extension up to 30 days early or 45 at some offices to the day it ends. After the date it is due you are on an overstay.

in CM you can apply up to 45 days early ....... but it's pointless as they start your new extension on the day you apply.

Probably a good idea to apply in the last 5-7 days of your existing permission to stay.

I don't think it's OP first extension. His 12 months will start from his current permission of stay date and not when he applies for extension.

Unrelated but note his 90 day report date will reset on day he reports. Not the date he has to report.
