Neo Pattaya: Popular resort undergoes rebrand - focus on "High Quality, High Value, High Spending"

Manager reported that Pattaya is now completely rebranding itself for the tourist season and the year ahead in these much changed Covid-19 times.

The TAT and City Hall along with tourism businesses have agreed on a completely new approach.

Out has gone the old name - Pattaya is no more.

Now is the new name : NEO PATTAYA!

And it comes with the all important hashtag in Thai (as most of the tourists are expected to be in 2021):

#Pattaya mai maa daay ngai or #How on earth can't you come!

It looks like it's out with the sleaze and in with wholesome, natural, educational, high quality values, notes Thaivisa.

Indeed "High" was the buzzword after Pattaya's mayor, the TAT reps, business leaders and a beauty queen all had their pictures taken in front of a backdrop of "Fat Coco" (a popular beach club in the resort).

Neo Pattaya is no longer about seedy bars and nightlife.

Now the focus is on the economy, society, environment and culture. It's not just about the fun either - it's about being safe and clean in these pandemic times.

The main buzzword was "Go High" though this was accompanied by "High Quality" "High Value" "High Spending" and "High Experience".

The participants seemed "heady" with all the highs!

These lofty ideals would be accomplished with activities like taking yachts to "hidden islands" with sea based enjoyment for all along the lines of picnics, sea flyer, paddle board and floating ocean pools.

And of course Neo Pattaya is a family resort where the kids' needs are paramount so zoos and animal shows were stressed with the excitement of Go Karts and Bungy Jumping.

Not to mention the many events that Pattaya has become famous for such as this weekend's music festival and the new year countdown.

Targets now seem to be high spending Thais rather than yesteryear's focus on and acceptance of westerners in singlets, notes Thaivisa.

And they want more and more FIT tourists - Fully Independent Travellers.

It appears that the drive towards the EEC or Eastern Economic Corridor expansion is heralding the end of the old Pattaya.

the problem with all this daily drivel is that their focus is always on what THEY want, not what their clientele want - until that simple leap of focus is taken their dreams will remain just that.. dr

  • And more than likely higher prices to compensate for all the losses during the pandemic , so i wish you luck as the word will soon get around that Pattaya is no longer the cheap holiday it used to be

There will be other SEA countries that will very happy to take its place .

"Neo Pattaya is no longer about seedy bars and nightlife. "

How funny. And every day they build new sex bars in the family resort - even now. They should make an honest advertisement for a city with sex businesses and hookers at every corner. For instance "Pattaya always will give your holidays a happy ending" and others like this.

"Neo" is only for marketing. That's not really "new" that seedy bars are disappearing near beach road for instance. First area was soi 2 and now that's the turn for soi 7 & 8. Nowadays seedy bars have already moved near soi Bukao and with the years they will move even further to the East... With the years the bright side of Pattaya will be emptied of this kind of bars.

"zoos and animal shows were stressed"

In more ways than one. It will be the worst reason to become 'neo'.

  • Popular Post

Oh stop it, nobody believed it last 12 times.

Go to a business meeting and casually say  "I'm off to Pattaya for my vacation this year" and watch all the raised eyebrows and your credibility take a nose dive as you say "No, No! It's a very high class family destination". As you get wheeled out to the funny farm with a suspected breakdown.

It is absolutely possible with a lot of efforts to make dreams become reality. Pattaya has the basic elements to become the Neo Pattaya, being dreamt of, and all it needs is serious efforts to change many things in Pattya and then its image will change.

Ever think of "rebranding" yourself and the places you hangout?

I live there and experience little of what you describe.

Did have a bar and a shop there.....Popeye's near 2nd road......a few years since, but on visits little seems to have changed.....maybe I am going to the wrong sois.

Soi 2, 3, 7, 8, drinking street etc... ? You'll be shocked next time you'll come to Pattaya.

And it all focuses on taking in big money from big spenders by big business, completely forgetting the poor trying to eke out a living working in Pattaya.
