Pattaya: Thai media names and shames E-cigarette shop operating brazenly in resort

 

 

Thai media Pattaya Update News posted a video of a shop brazenly offering e-cigarettes and vaping fluid for sale in a lane in Central Pattaya. 

 

The shop, "Duut Dang Duappp" is in Nam Chai lane, they said. 

 

They reminded their readers that e-cigarettes and vaping fluid are illegal and a big no-no in Thailand. 

 

Importers face ten years in jail and/or a fine of up to five times the cost of the goods. 

 

The products also cannot be sold as they contravene trading standards laws for which 5 years and 500,000 baht penalties prevail. 

 

In addition sellers who are also importers and producers face 10 years jail and a million baht fine. 

 

Despite this, no action was being taken by the authorities against the shop in Pattaya that is flagrantly flouting the law, they said. 

 

Thaivisa notes that many people living in Thailand will be able to point to e-cigarette products being sold openly. Police and trading standards crackdowns are mounted from time to time.

 

Last month a man was busted who was running an online e-cigarette business via Facebook.

The police ignored the seller because no-one cares about yet another law that is only enforced if funds are needed. Here's a tip for them - there's a site on YouTube where someone frequently posts videos filmed on RCA in Bangkok of young women vaping. They can easily be found outside the clubs. Plenty of them there, if the police are interested. Which, of course, they are not.

The problem is that laws are sometimes enforced and sometimes not. And not often it is examined why it is like this. 

 

Here is a good example of the Insanity Club in the Bangkok not far away from the police station. But there are endless cases in Thailand where nothing happens.

illegal really , i see everyone vaping here , last week in a festival in pattaya and lot of people vaping  so , if it's illegal why  not people hiding ???
