KBANK believes Thai baht to be valued at 34.65-34.85 to the dollar this week

The Kasikorn Research Center believes that the Thai baht will be valued at 34.65-34.85 baht to the US dollar this week.

Kasikorn Research Center analysts indicate that Thai currency trends from May 8-11 will see the baht valued at 34.65-34.85 baht to the US dollar, with adjustments along a narrow margin. The baht may appreciate in value if regional currencies adjust in value. Investors' attention may be focused on a meeting of the United State's Federal Reserve on May 9, with speculations that the Federal Reserve Board of Governors will maintain Fed Fund interest rates at 5.25 percent.

Meanwhile the Kasikorn Securities Company and the Kasikorn Research Center report that the Thai Stock Exchange may fluctuate this week as investors remain fixated on stock exchanges throughout the Asian region. Other factors in effect this week include consumer price index (CPI) reports for April, quarter 1 performance reviews for registered companies, and updates on Thailand's political situation.

Kasikorn analysts added that the SET index may have a support value from 696-710 and a resistance value from 722-727.
